Shyt would be a rap for PS4 and Xbox. The companies mines well pack that shyt up. The fan base Nintendo has already and add the real adult gaming quality to it. What system could fukk with it?

Mario running around with GTA graphics and shyt.

Mario Kart looking like drive club throwing shells n shyt.

These guys made gaming what it is today and if they just make a system for all ages and not just kids shyt it will be great.
the fact that they aren't even working on one that I know of makes this whole convo irrelevant

They will continue to dominat handhelds and bank in the process

I've never even considered a wii u and i have 8 consoles in my home 2 are nintendo 3ds

They will stick with the money makers, wii spanked everyone with those virtually gamecube with a coolcontroller specs, most of those people aren't mainstream gamers, so I doubt they are on the market for a new next gn system, also they made them good enough to last a long time

Only took 55 posts for someone to speak the truth.

If they truly made a system that was on par in every aspect with the X1/PS4, no gimmicks, and easy for 3rd parties to port their stuff over, it would be a wrap. Last time they truly did that was the SNES, and that's widely regarded as the greatest console of all time.Looking back they even revolutionized the industry with the controller for that system (4 buttons + 2 shoulders).

Kids and Adults would flock to that system in a heartbeat.

Not that I want them to though...I respect their innovation that they bring.

Can't believe so many people trashing the gamecube in here...that system had the highest rated 1st party titles out of that generation by far.

No its not. The PS2 is regarded as the best system of all time

More people are switching to mobile phone gaming than new consoles.

Not true

Not true

I don't think I've ever seen the PS2 in any article as the best system. I've seen SNES, NES and Dreamcast multiple times though.

That's besides the point though. Even if its in the convos of greatest consoles of all time, then that just shows what Nintendo could do if they really wanted to

Stop deluding yourself.

Nintendo has been in the same situation since the Nintendo 64 and people seem to think they aren't in this situation due to themselves or that making hardware on par with everyone else will get them out of it.

Nintendo is out of touch with the common gamer and what the common gamer wants. They have a core audience (that's been shrinking through the years) that will follow them like lemmings straight into a cliff.

If Nintendo's Wii U was on par with the Xbox One and PS4 it would still sell like shyt because the common gamer isn't interested in Nintendo and hasn't been for years if not decades. By common gamer I mean the guy that's buying the Call of Duty games, Assassin's Creed games, Madden games, Grand Theft Auto games ect. The style of popular games that typically sell like crap on Nintendo's hardware.

The only way Nintendo gets out of the predicament they're in is to fire everybody at the top and install new management that is actually in-touch with what gamers as a whole want. This won't happen because as out of touch as those guys are they aren't stupid. They run the company to make a profit and it's a profitable company. As long as they're turning a profit they don't really care about all the money they're missing out on not appealing to the masses.

You want an example of how out of touch Nintendo is? Splatoon has no voice chat despite being a team based online game and Nintendo is completely uninterested in adding it. It's 2015, voice chat is a gaming standard and Nintendo won't put it in their games. Characters in Zelda games still don't have real voice acting and speak gibberish. This is a company that's stuck in an eternal recurrence. They'll put out their next POS hardware and march through the same franchises they put out on the Wii U. A Mario Kart, a Smash Bros, a Zelda, a Mario ect. The same process and core franchises they've been releasing for decades. For the most part they'll continue to shun the advancements technology and gaming has made and make games like it's still 1998 and shyt.

Nintendo is dead to a lot of core gamers and there's nothing they can do to change that. It's like the neighbors dog behind you barking. You hear it so long after a while you don't even notice the sound. A lot of gamers just don't notice Nintendo anymore. They grew out of accepting the offbeat way Nintendo does things and refuses to evolve.

That's only because the tech of that time was so limited by default Nintendo was cutting edge. As technology has continued to evolve Nintendo has mostly shunned it.

Nintendo is driven by profitability. The only way the guys who run the company can keep their jobs is to remain profitable. This is why they put out technologically inferior hardware that's profitable the first day it hits the shelves. If Nintendo tries to compete with Microsoft and Sony on the hardware front they're putting out a system that loses money day 1 and their core group of followers probably won't be able to support the company. It'll be a downward spiral of losing money.

Response to paragraph #1 - Using a cd system would have definitely helped vs using cartridges. That's a fact

Response to paragraph #2 - Partially agree but WII and DS/3DS sales say something different.

Response to paragraph #3 - The common gamer loves Nintendo games. Their sales throughout the years proves that. Imagine how much a mario or mario kart would sell on a system that was comparable to the X1/PS4

Response to paragraph #4 - The company is highly profitable still even with the WII U being a general miss. Don't think firing people is necessary. Its ok to fail once in a while. They still print money lol

Response to paragraph #5 - Agreed with the voice acting but you do realize you just shamed them for putting out the same (high quality) franchises, but was perfectly ok with it when you mentioned what the core gamer wants a few paragraphs above?

Response to paragraph #6 - Stop that. Lol. Might be dead to you but millions and millions still enjoy their systems. The 3DS does still exist.

Response to paragraph #7 - :what: Nintendo has been cutting edge in the control department. The next time you pick up your X1/PS4 controller, thank them. The created/popularized the 4 button layout, shoulder buttons, they created/popularized the analog joystick, the created the rumble effect, they popularized/perfected the wireless controller and introduced motion controls.

As I said earlier I would rather them continue to innovate rather than copy, but that's just me.

Even IF Nintendo managed to come up with a system with graphics that blow the PS4 and XB1 out of the water, the best online infrastructure ever seen on a console, the best feeling controller ever made, no gimmicks whatsoever, free blowjobs from the baddest Japanese pornstars and makes you the leader of the Yakuza just by pressing the power button, there's still the fact that many 3rd party publishers wont work with them no matter what.

EA: Done with them for the forseeable future, allegedly mad at Nintendo declining the use of Origin for their OS but who really knows.

Ubisoft: Done with them also (to be fair, this isn't much of a loss nowadays)

Activision: Other than getting thrown the occasional Skylanders bone, they're getting nothing else from them.

WB: All they're getting is Lego games from here on out, no more Arkham games or anything else.

2K Games: Never fukked with Nintendo period and for damn sure doesn't wanna fukk with them now.

Bethesda: See 2K.

Square Enix: They only work with Nintendo on a portable level but with mobile on the rise in Japan lord knows how long that's gonna last.

Capcom: Same boat as Square, might get thrown a bone a few times but never will get full support.

Konami: :mjlol: Unless Nintendo got slot machines in the works.

Not to mention, demographics and such.

Bottom line is, they can make the best console imaginable but the bridges that were burned over the years will not be repaired easily, if at all. And it's all Nintendo's fault.

Nintendo's whole third party relations has been documented in this piece regarding the Gamecube (it very well applies to the current situation with the Wii U) It's a long read though, check it out if you have the time.

Well at least Bandai Namco, Atlus and Tecmo Koei are still rocking with them with Smash Bros, SMTx FE, Fatal Frame, Hyrule Warriors and Pokken. Plus, they seem to treat the indie scene good.:ehh:

nintendo should fire iwata and hire winb83 of thecoli.com
I'd make them have voice chat in their games at the very least. What excuse us there in 2015 to not have voice chat in a team based game?

It's not a coincidence that every Nintendo home console from the SNES on excluding the Wii has sold worse than its predecessor. The Wii was a fluke the Wii U is trending to sell worse than the Gamecube.

Look at Sony. Their worst selling home console the PS3 is like 15 or so million behind Nintendo best selling system the Wii. The PS1 and PS2 both sold over 100 Million. The PS3 is like 84 million. Hell if you add up the sales of the SNES (50 m), N64 (33 m), and Gamecube (21 m) you just about equal the sales of just the PS1 (101 m) which came out in the same generation as the N64. PS4 sales are on a pace to beat the PS2 at this point in its life. It's not impossible for a game company to put out consoles that consistently sell well so why can't Nintendo?

Kiddie/family friendly console, they don't want adults swearing on voice chat to some 9 year old.
