Black people were hated way before rap music's inception.

Exactly, I hate when people use this excuse

Cacs still gon hate you no matter what as long as your skin is black

Of course rap is destructive. That's what's so alluring about it.

Rap is only destructive if someone is a kid or an idiot, adults should know how to seperate entertainment from real life. I'll walk in to a college classroom bumping Meek Mill/Rick Ross and walk out at the end of the semester with one of the highest GPA's, any parent that allows rap to raise their children is incompetent

this topic gets brought up so much on here

Why should it not?

- This is a mostly black forum
- Our new generation (THE FUTURE) has embraced rap as their favored genre
- There are certain socio-cultural effects that come from embracing a certain artform

:manny: Seems about right

Nah rap music is a symptom of the problem. I do think a lot of the themes and messages are destructive. But rap didn't create those themes, society did. Society drives people to want to hear those messages.

There is nothing wrong with having adult themes in art. The problem is when those adult themes are placed in front of children as the norm.

Argue away :lupe:

No, I have been meaning to make a thread about how the the romanticizes of the 90s ruins every single rap argument.

Just a preview.

The biggest rap songs of the 90s were not these intricate rap songs done by the most astute rap artist.... The big 90s rap songs were just as ignorant as the Big rap songs of today

Whether its 94 or 2013 rap is first and foremost party music.

The songs that focus on beats and hooks will alway be the biggest songs that crossover.

Yeah, but the difference is songs with substance actually got airplay then, the radio is completely inundated with trash now.
