Ready to die is a classic. Biggie and bad boy were punks and gay tho. Big is nowhere near Goat for real.
Big's high production value music is just of a superior quality to the sloppy output of Pac's, and as MC's, Tupac had the range of emotion & subject matter on his side, but Big had everything else, I think the beef did more for Pac's legacy then Biggies.

I don't question if Biggie was talented,he definitely had god given gifts emcees would kill to have that cant be taught....But the question is is he talented enough to be mentioned with the rest of the goats where they try to place him....And the "We'll never know" aspect with Biggie is just another reason to say no he doesn't belong there.

Puffy and his team gave Biggie more than just beats,that's like saying Dre just gave Snoop the beats for Doggystyle....and on a lyrical level I'm not quite as blown away by Biggie as some people are on a technical level....So yes I definitely think what Puff and company bought to the table played a big part in the love Biggie got at the time,he definitely "lyrically" wasn't the best out at the time so lets not pretend that's where the love was coming from

Production was a major part of ready to die, not sure why people are denying it or acting like it's a bad thing.
Biggie was obviously a great rapper but part of the reason he blew up so big is because he was on songs with great production.
Big Poppa is dope and very catchy but its the beat that comes on first that people start nodding too because the lyrics even kick in.

We're basically saying the same thing. But yes, the correct thing is that we wil never know whether or not he could've thrived as much without Puff. We DO KNOW Pac could "on his own". Has Snoop ever reached the same heights as with Dre? No, so we DO KNOW he didn't thrive as much without him. Same with, for example Rae and Rza imo.
Saying we'll never know about Biggie isn't a matter of opinion, it's a fact. He's dead : we'll never know how it would've turned out.

please puff's contributions were minimal at best. attributing the quality of R2D to puff would be like attributing the success of the cleveland cavs to david blatt. it was big's presence on the mic, his flow and his delivery that made that album what it was.

?Puff is the differenfce in Biggie being Jay-Z instead of Beanie Sigel?Yet you consider that minimal contribution?His commercial success plays a part in his status....And no maybe Craig Mack but I could see other emcees of that time killing those beats,and actually doing better by those beats than Biggie,so its not as if he is the reason those songs are great....he just didn't fukk em up.I don't think Craigh Mack would've fukked it up either,but the difference is without Puff I believe Biggie still would have had a career as a rapper people fukked with,the question is what kindve career....It takes more than lyrics to make you a icon,most of biggies biggest and most talked about songs are Puffy contributions
