I agree, and I've felt that way for years.

All the male singers sing about is doing molly, being gang affiliated and running trains on thots.

All the female singers sing about is being a side chick, getting their pussies beat up, and telling nikkas to stop catching feelings because they're just fukking.

My parents would tell me and my siblings the same exact thing about R&B back when we were kids in the 90s.

And let me tell you...the older I get especially now at 35, I think they had a point.

They would always frown on us for listening to explicit R&B like R. Kelly and Jodeci meanwhile they had Al Green and Minnie Ripperton in the collection.

100.

Its easy to be coarse, harder to be creative.

Everything has been in a freefall race to the bottom in terms of increasing shock value since the 90s when rap started seeping into R&B and changed its whole groove. I mostly rock the oldies because I dig live instruments, sanging and dope lyrics but from what I hear about the modern tracks there's literally 3 or 4 production styles, 4 maybe 5 song topics and around 3 ways of singing shared out in various combinations through all the "artists".

Like I said, easy to be coarse, harder to be creative.

I look at music - heck any "entertainment" - in terms of frequency, vibration. Its either raising yours or lowering it so consider before you consume because just like the Trojans, rapping, tapping loudly at your door...

When it got handed over to hip hop labels and executives who have no business producing R&B records.

All looking for their "first lady" or "babygirl" or "princess", that they could throw on hooks for cheap.

Also they pushed out half their audience, with an over reliance on he ain't shyt anthems that don't have the charm of a 'Tyrone'.
