clark county is a joke. when i did prisoner extradition, i went there a lot
look the average day of a co goes like this
roll call 530, discuss what happened yesterday, any incidents,changes, etc
545 you on your unit relieving the last shifts officer find out if anything happened last night and if all the equipment is there
bout 6 you walking around your unit (in my case max, lock down,the hole,etc) doing a body count, if you wanna be an a$$hole turn on the lights but that leads to shyt happening all day long.
my unit gets an hour for rec a day and on mon wed and fri showers so i go thru and ask who want go outside and who wanna take a shower
after that you taking the usual early morning crew outside for rec before it gets hot and then getting the other people ready for showers and medical/court appts
usually by 7 the trays come thru and we have to put them in Styrofoam containers cause mfs be breaking them
we supposed to give them just an hour,but we ask the first group if they ready to come inside or they want chill some more
we then pass out trays and meds and at this point we tryin to gauge the mood the inmates are in
THIS DEPENDS ON THE OFFICER FROM 2nd/3rd shift and how they treated them,if the officer was on some bs, then they in bad moods
now we done did breakfast and meds, did the first round of showers and bringing in the first group from off the yard (this takes two of us per inmate by policy cause they max inmates on lockdown) and doing round 2 of each (shower,rec)
keep in mind these are max inmates on lock down so they in cages about twice the size of a regular cell and they by themselves and can't have contact with any other inmate.
the whole time we're doing this we have on spit shields and ballistic vest to protect ourselves.
now around 8 we getting people ready for various appointments such as court, medical, or visitation
if the treatment team is there, get ready, these mfs find out how their cases are going, get evaluated by the medical mental staff, and then find out if they getting shipped to another prison. at this point we have to prepare for them to buck and check in( say they gone commit suicide,assault staff,etc) just so they don't get shipped
during all this everyone is usually up banging on the doors,trying talk to other inmates, rapping, singing, etc
then you usually have mfs fishing(tying sheets,shirts,etc to look like a fishing line and slide it under their door to another inmates door to trade) by policy we supposed to take the line and write them up. but i dont i usually kick it under another inmates door to fukk with them or they don't do it on my shift. but we make a game out of it. if you miss 3 times you forfeit your next meal or rec. i get along with the inmates on my unit so its usually jokes about fishing
we have random checks to make sure mfs aint tryin kill themselves,not using contraband,etc. i don't be on that bs i just tell them put it away and don't smoke,etc on my shift. we don't get paid enough to be on that bs.
this goes on until lunch and we repeat the process. you pretty much just answer questions all day and interact with them. sitting behind a desk all day is not doing your job. there is no such thing as an "usual day" you always have to be on guard and be ready for anything. you're constantly walking or on your feet and usually someone with rank comes on your unit. for some dumb reason we have cell inspections where they have to have their beds made up. but we do believe in random searches and keeping up with hygiene and making sure the cells aren't looking like trash.
like i've said before you want to fight,get set up,raped,etc you have to push for that shyt. if it happens, you earned it.
at the end of the day when the lights go out or random commands go go back to their cell even the most bossed up inmate is going to lay his ass down until given permission to get up by authorities or face the consequences
