I hate when people say racism is geographically exclusive to the south (I didn't want to make this thread turn into another race thread BTW)
New York City can be just as racist, if not more sometimes, than your regular old midwestern or southern state.
Especially with all them uber rich/wealthy white people in Manhattan.
I legit get the vibe from them that they want Manhattan island (hell, all five boroughs really) to be like Elysium
Only for the elite.
To me, they look at poor black and spanish people as if they were diseased and needed to be quarantined and seperated from the populace.
And this city, for all its diversity, is home to the MOSt segeregated school system in the country.

With that said, let's not derail tmy thread with this. We can save this discussion for another time.

Just to add, I know history, one of the largest plantations in the country was in Brooklyn.

I have family in Florida and while I love the weather down there, I'm pretty sure id blow my brains out if i needed to hop in the car to step outside of my house.

But yeah buying in NYC is unlikely unless your money is long.

Can't forget about how one of the largest black communities in America...Seneca Village....was destroyed to create Central Park.

And Wall Street/Financial District was built on top of an African slave graveyard.

These are really people who don't know where to look for a decent apartment in this city. There's no excuse to be living like this especially given all the resources there are to find affordable housing that's decent. Some people just don't want to take those steps. To make it seem like that's all there is in this city is disingenuous

these the type of people who values others opinion on how they live and where they stay in new york instead of living life for themselves

it's the whole " well becky i live in manhattan in a nice apartment " bullshyt... instead of going out to queens or some other area around the city to find something where u can breathe

Yea...its not about having a liveable space with them they can actually walk around in without getting uncomfortable. It's about how close they are to the city, if they're near the L train, how hip the neighborhood Is, how close it is to this or that bar or club or boutique...etc.

Or like you say, just being able to say I live in Manhattan.

So?

Manhattan is too much. Too much noise. Too many people. Too expensive. Too crowded.

Also I hate when people think Manhattan is all what NYC is and ignore the borough's
