As a real hip-hop fan...I love, respect, and appreciate both trap and boom-bap/sample beats

They'll always be producers that push each style to it's limits and make greatness, just like they'll always be average to wack ass producers that make sub par beats in different styles.

I've heard average trap beats, and I've heard average sample beats. I don't like one style over the other. They both have their place.

My UK breh @clanarchy makes some of the best sampled beats I've ever heard and my Canada breh @DBR makes some of the hardest complex trap beats I've ever heard.

I would never disrespect either by saying it's easy to do what they do or that one takes more talent to do than the other.

We should all be building together and giving props to those that do excel in either production style..

fukk all this tearing each other down and holding pissing contests on which production style is better.

Can only agree with this though . Could never make sample beats as good as @clanarchy or @TEKBEATZ can

Is this a trap beat to you all?

Apparently it is as was said from the artist's mouth way after I had already heard the song. Keeping it 100, that designation didn't even cross my mind. I just heard/ hear a dope ass beat.

Of course, but then again they prolly couldn't make trap beats as good as you....

and then you got dudes like @Sincere Noble that can make real dope ass sample beats and trap beats.

I just think we should all respect each other strengths instead of shytting on people's weaknesses and production styles.

At the end of the day..A dope beat is a dope beat whether it's trap, boom-bap etc...

I think one of the biggest reasons as to why a lot of hip hop fans feel that trap beats are everywhere and flooding the market is that "Trap drums" are now THE modern way of programing drums. I mean, yeah breakbeats/boom bap drums are still used, but for the most part producers are digging into their 808 kits.

You also have songs like 0-100, RICO, and bytch Don't Kill My Vibe. Dope samples that are using trap drums/programing. If those songs woulda droped 15 years ago, it would have been completely different.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
they actually create their own music...alot of these sou;l samplers loop samples also...the real reason hiphop heads hate trap beats are because of the shytty rappers that rap on them....If nas hoped on a sonny digital beat, magically sonny would be that nikka in agmonst hiphop heads....hiphop heads are sheep just like the causal fans

We just need conscious lyrical dudes on the trap sound...imagine a modern day cube or tupac on a groovy 808...that shyt would change the game....

I think these guys waste their talent working with these bum ass rappers....if they want to become legends, they need rappers that can bring substance to their tracks...whos going to listen to young thug 7 years from now?

so dont hate the producer, hate the "artist"
you act like we haven't heard it... the super lyrical, respected mc's on trap beats... it rarely ever works out correctly

i'm not sure if we put up a bunch of boom baps vs a bunch of samples, instrumentals only... that the trap would win out

yes it's hard to create from scratch... but playing around on a keyboard all day, you bound to come up with something... anyone can tap out some beats

now sit someone down with 150 records, and tell them to chop them up good and make an entirely new record... sometimes chopping them so good, you have no fukking idea where the sample came from

people think you sample a hit.. lay some drums.. done

nah people will sample A drum, then use that sampled drum to create their own drum beat... then take 3 seconds of a baseline from some 1963 country track... then steal a guitar riff from ac/dc... then stretch that, reverse it and slow it down

you making sampling too simple of thing... it's much easier to download some drum kit patterns off the internet, or buy them, and place them correctly in fruity loops... which is why we get new trap producers every week... just like the rappers... they have no staying power

its actually more time consuming finding samples then it is making ethe beats sometimes. LOL @ mentioning mass appeal like that was some easy flip. 1.5 seconds of sound in a 4 min random composition... only a trained ear for beats would have found it.

Gang Starr's Mass Appeal - Discover the Sample Source

mass appeal is more classic than any trap beat
:dwillhuh:Damn saying Premo has an ear for music is a fukking understatement.
