Trap beats are garbage, period. You heard one of em, you heard 100 of em, especially today. That shyt was alright when TM101 dropped. but now that sound needs to get the fukk outta here in the worst way.

"space effect-BOOM!-wawawawawawaBOOM-BA-BOOM!!-wawawawaBOOM!"...and repeat.

Horrible.

As a pianist and music arranger, I must add that sampling is one of the basis of Hip Hop and trap and classic styles of production are really separated by the advancement of technology. There is no question you can do much more with a Digital Workstation in 2015 than you can in 85, but tech doesn't matter if you don't have skills....

Producers with actual music ability (i.e. playing an instrument and having understanding of actual harmonies) tend to DESTROY one-note/Fruity Loops producers time always.

Great Hip Hop Producers, hell great MUSIC producers since they can do all genres:
Devante Swing
Teddy Riley
Timbaland
Dr. Dre
Rza
Neptunes
Scott Storch
Ryan Leslie
R Kelly

If these trap producers picked up a music theory book or took some music classes, then they'd give the classics a serious run for their money. 4 Bar loops with some synths, pitch blend, tired hi-hats, corny strings, and filters quickly fades...

Also....
Can any of your trap dudes do this?

Or This?

How About This?

I've heard Trap beats that are really good but the majority is really bad.
I don't understand why they always use 808's? Like that's the holy drumsound or something. I think Boom-Bap uses better drums than Trap.
And to me most Trap melodies are very generic and dull. Like it's just a 1 bar melody that repeats itself through out the whole track. That's nothing more creative than looping a sample.

I do think it takes more skill to make a beat from scratch than to make a beat with a sample.

Post one of your beats and I'll post one of mine.
You're very young and stupid, breh.
Trap beats have samples and loops in them, too!
(1) It takes more skill to make your own beat than to sample...

(2) The "soul" and feel of the sample comes from the original performers and recorders...You are not responsible for that feel...

For example, if you want to recreate that early ATCQ feel, you need to sample the same records that they sampled...

Sampling is TOO easy...

they actually create their own music...alot of these sou;l samplers loop samples also...the real reason hiphop heads hate trap beats are because of the shytty rappers that rap on them....If nas hoped on a sonny digital beat, magically sonny would be that nikka in agmonst hiphop heads....hiphop heads are sheep just like the causal fans

We just need conscious lyrical dudes on the trap sound...imagine a modern day cube or tupac on a groovy 808...that shyt would change the game....

I think these guys waste their talent working with these bum ass rappers....if they want to become legends, they need rappers that can bring substance to their tracks...whos going to listen to young thug 7 years from now?

so dont hate the producer, hate the "artist"
i make beats and trust me, doing a trap beat is a lot easier than finding a nice sample and flipping it into a boom bap beat. the melodies on trap beats are simple as fukk, all you do is load a synth vst and push a couple of keys on your midi keyboard. than you add 808s and sound effects. don't get me wrong, i like trap beats for their raw energy, but trap producers aren't more creative than somebody looping a sample, they are the 2015 version of swizz beats 1998 style of producing. make a three finger melody out of generic synth sounds, add drums, sell your beat.
