aye, i like love good trap but lets not act like these dudes create those sounds. they come from soundbanks, and then get filtered/distorted like a sample

are trap producers talented? sure, Southside's and Lex's hi-hat programming changed music. Sonny Digital finds bass tones that knock my ears off, Mike Will is just an all around dope ass producer. Zay is a master at taking his key sounds and making simple, addictive melodies with concise bass hits

but keep in mind that DAW's often do alot of programming for you, so while i admire the complex patterns its not the same work as Buckwild/Dre/RZA etc making the patterns on reel-to-reel using archaic samplers with low bit-rates

DAWs give you as much control over the sound as you want. Id imagine some producers also have background in sound engineering, so they would

Ain't no trap beat that resonates in my heart like this boom-bap ass beat does.

As a music producer, I can honestly say sampling is by far easier than original production.
The only thing hard about sampling is finding the right sample.
There are different types of sampling. There's just looping a sample, then there's actually chopping a sample. Chopping is where it gets more complex.

I'm more into the looping, but I can also chop:

Great post breh.
I had posted earlier in the thread giving my assumption about how trap beats were made and it looks like I was basically right.
What is a DAW?
Edit: Digital Audio Workstation. So basically the computer is taking the place of the producers ear for combining all these different sounds and making it blend together. Akin to Serato vs Vinyl.

I do think it takes more skill to make a beat from scratch than to make a beat with a sample.
thing is to make a beat with samples you have to craft the beat around the sample. to be clear, I'm talking about most modern "boom bap" that isn't just a straight loop with breakbeat drums

these trap beats tend to use the same synth drums, in more or less the same patterns, and then they sprinkle some goofy sounds around them
