Facts breh I used to stay hitting up the scene around Adams Morgan, U Street, and Downtown. Managed to get plenty of good times under my belt before COVID even became a thing

Correct. And the week that I went to ATL the weather in NyC had not dip that low yet.

I think what southern people mean by “great” weather is that the winters are shorter and they get less than an inch of snow.


That’s not good for me. If I’m leaving my area for weather reasons then I better not see cold at all.

Yeah it’s only a handful of cities in the South that got interesting architecture. Hell I’d even go as far as saying some of the most dilapidated cities you can think of in “The North” got more attractive looking architecture than the most dilapidated cities in the South. For example, who got more attractive looking architecture despite having a decent number of areas that look derelict asf:

Buffalo, NY or Jackson, MS?
Baltimore, MD or Memphis, TN?
Pittsburgh, PA or Jacksonville, FL?

And I know good and damn well he ain’t talking about no damn “North looks so ugly” in terms of scenery From the almost uninterrupted stretch of coastline that transitions from the sandy beaches of Maryland to the rocky, lighthouse-dotted shoreline of Maine.....To the beautiful apple country of the Hudson Valley and the wineries of Northern Virginia....To New England’s iconic autumn and winter landscapes....To the incredible majesty of the Chesapeake Bay....Pennsylvania by itself got one of the most gorgeous topographies and geographies in the country and Maryland in particular got practically every single natural biome that this country got except for tropical rainforests, deserts, open plains, and glacial/alpine areas (it’s a reason MD is called America In Miniature)....A lot of these steel, brick, and stone bridges that dot the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic add to the scenery as well....Both North and South share the Appalachians....Etc., etc.

He would have a point about the Lower Midwest since much of that shyt is very flat and rarely changes elevation. However, the Upper Midwest and some of the Great Plains states have some very interesting topography and geography that rivals almost anything that’s on the East Coast and the South.

I would say the midwest is the worst region in the US. At least the south has beaches, mountains, and cities with growing, diverse economies. Also the urban cores in up-and-coming cities like Charlotte, Nashville, Austin are expanding, moving away from car culture.

That seems to be a common misconception to folks outside “the North” Hell, you’d be hard pressed to find any rowhomes in the Midwest unless they consider Pittsburgh the Midwest lol

I remember reading the South didn't have huge cities until the invention/promotion of Air Conditioning Equipment. Maybe has something to do with it

It’s part of it. But the main issue is that most southern cities were built post world war 2. These cities are built around the car so the amount of human scaled development is not as large. Only New Orleans, Savannah, Charleston, and if you want to count it, Richmond, VA had much of their built environment occur before the car.

So you’re saying a young person or “active” person in general is having the same type of fun in a place like LA, NYC, Chicago as they are in Alabama and Arkansas?


Here’s the issue here. There are many open minded educated career focused southerners who live in these cities that could answer these questions for you.


These places tend to have more:

Restaurants of all sorts from all over the globe and unique spots in general, More nightlife options, More museums and cultural activities (having a museum experience in Arkansas doesn’t touch the experience you’ll get in Washington DC), More outdoor activities, Much better and populated networks of people from all types of backgrounds and much better looking women of all sorts.


The energy of these cities is rich and not a sleepy town.

The south overall is generally viewed as a place you go to when it’s time to relax and be away from all that energy.

I can drive to Hollywood or Santa Monica on a random day and find activities/places to go that I can do all by myself and have a blast..where in Raleigh can I do that, we use to go to Crabtree mall and triangle to pass time only time I go to mall here is when I genuinely need something not for something to do
