breaks down the formula

crazy how labels miss out on this obvious formula...

even Full Blooded got the No Limit look...

Full%20Blooded%20-%20Memoprial%20Day.jpg

Kendrick was nowhere to be found on Ab Soul or Lance Skiiiwalkers albums...

if I was Top Dawg, every project would have a Kendrick, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab Soul verses....etc.

TDE dropped an album from everyone this year and we didnt hear a new Soul verse till his album dropped. If he was on all the other projects people wouldnt have said he been quiet.

Shyt was wild as fukk back then, No Limit had a stan legion who bought all their shyt

There were classic albums (C-Murder, Fiend, Mac, Soulja Slim), great ones (Bleed, Silkk, IGTHU OST, Mean Green) and very few disappointments (Full Blooded, Snoop, Mystikal, Mia X)

Twas the best of times brehs

:dahell:

Snoop dropped some of his best work on No Limit
Mia X No Limit work is a top tier female discography
Mystikal dropped two classics on the tank

look at the thread title dumbass...NINETEEN NINETY EIGHT!

Ghetto Fabulous was Mystikal's worst album ever (he himself said it, Unpredictable was his best album)

Da Game Is To Be Sold was alright but not nearly what people expected at that point. of course NL Top Dogg and Da Last Meal were some of Snoop's top 5 albums OAT (probably top 3)

Mama Drama was another letdown. Again, 97 album Unlady Like was tons better

I agree,

Even Rick Ross kinda adopt P's formula by putting out compilation albums with everybody on the roster to be featured on the album.

I think you don't have that family oriented vibe like NL had with these labels, everyone wants to have the Fame instead of the profits/money.

C-Murder really didn't have a hit radio single and dude sold close to a million records when Life or Death dropped. Why was that album one of the anticipated album to be released?

Because No Limit was hot, and stans bought everything with the tank on the back case

Because C was featured on almost all 97/98 No Limit albums (except Young Bleed's album and Mystikal's Unpredictable iirc)

Because C was a part of TRU, and Tru 2 Da Game came thru like an atomic bomb in the midwest/south in 97

With all that said, Life Or Death is one of the greatest gangsta rap albums of all time. Everything was on point except the lack of original topics/subjects

I was very loyal to the tank that yr but by the end of 98 you could see the end coming they dropped too much shyt that yr... but that first half was one of the great runs hip hop ever had

I still haven't other than maybe when Pac got out of jail (but that was one person) seen a label have a good run like that...

That shyt was unheard of to hear and see...P really had the game on lock...

I think the height came was when Silkk dropped the single "Just be Str8 with me" and P had a line in there where he said "it's gonna take 200 hunnid mill just to break me" :banderas:

The correct answer to your question @NO-BadAzz is that C-Murder got so much exposure before his album that is what made it so anticipated. He was in TRU, he was on everybody else album so we all by default looked forward to it. fukk a stan. On top of that C-Murder was the last original member to release an album. Silkk was already on album 2, P album 5, Mia was on album 3, yet C-Murder didnt drop till 98.
