True yet are you saying aeom isnt quality?

Not a big fan of the album....but that isn't at all what I'm saying.

I don't care about what an album has sold/will sell/whatever....it has zero impact on how I enjoy the material.

Thats fine as a consumer, and im with you, yet when working in the industry you have a bottomline you have to adhere to, some gonna make the budget others wont.

Rap music wasnt as contrived and programmed like it was now back in the early 80s to mid 90s..

Ill be honest Pacs 1st album was kinda wack to me...along with a lot of other people...and my nicca used to dj and make beats for him...nicca 2nd album was half way decent and blew because of I get around which peaked femalez interest as a purchasing market.

So yes quality is a factor yet how popular the artist is a factor as well...

but i'd much rather talk about pac's greatest hits being his only album to go diamond and other rappers dropping albums after dying and not going diamond

Don't start with this diamond shyt :snoop:

From another post on the subject:

LAD first week sales according to wiki: 690,000
7DT first week sales according to wiki: 663,000

If we are on our "lets be reality" shyt, pac actually sold damn near twice as many physical copies with his "last" album and went on to do an ORGANIC 6 mill which is more than the "diamond" album that actually went 5...this "pac wasn't selling..." shyt is beyond flimsy.

He barely even beat him with first week sales, and that "diamond" really translates to less albums sold than 7DT in total.

The fact that this "diamond" argument is being used so frequently in these beating the dead horse ass debates is hilarious and shows how far you have to reach to try to make a point.

What's being discussed?
AEOM sold 4.5 In 17 years.
Pacs first album sold 1 million in 23 years.

And Pacs sales argument was obviously that MATW was selling as fast/marginally faster than R2D while he was in jail.
