it's a trend now, you got cats talking about how dope the 90's where... when they were born in 1996...and didn't even really get a chance to experience the 90's from anything other than youtube, Vh1 behind the music and the glamorized accounts of the good ol days.

the dikkriding of the 90's is the battle cry of dudes like Peter Rosenberg...it's so demonic.

If you think the 90's praise is a trend you just :troll: you don't gotta be born in 1980 to appreciate the music of the 90's.

All you gotta do is listen to the music it's right there for you. First time I heard illmatic I was :krs: and went and just started digging.

But continue to :troll:

Don't Believe the Hype
What about Whoop There It Is? Hot Steppa?

What about the Kriss Kross / ABC "beef"

Q-Tip being in Dee-Lite's 'Groove Is In The Heart'
I fukks with these tracks (bolded) especially the Dee-Lite track. I'm the f*cking jukebox hero at the bar when I play that and Mark Morrison's, "Return of the Mack."

Also, I don't know if it's simply for nostalgic reasons but that PM Dawn, "Set a Drift..." is my sh*t! :angrykrs:

The Dee Lite track has some nostalgic vibes for me as well but nothing about it is 'hip hop' and its a poppy one hit wonder track.

These 90's shows n shyt coming back on TV is a recent trend in the mainstream I agree, but 90's rap was seen as the gold standard all throughout the 2000's. This isn't anything new, stop lying to yourself.

Underrated thread, there was a lot of wack shyt coming out in the 90s and i'm not talking Nastradamus wack but really wack.

People choose to neglect that and only act like classics dropped in the 90s.

The difference is probably that those dudes were forgot about quick as fukk and the effect of the amount of classics coming out compensated for the wackness.

"Whoomp, There It Is" is one of the greatest songs of all-time! OF ALL TIME!

SOHH ICEY N.O.

Art Barr gonna tell us how back when he was working with a plug down in Shreveport when he was attending Tulane part time, cause he got almost got pinched during a shootout on the west bank...he was still involved in the New Orleans rap scene and Silk was unfairly depicted as wack and off beat cause he outdid Jay-Z by recording his verse without his headphones on.

and how Mia X left a message on his answering machine telling him that she'd give him some head if he came thru to the Bout it Bout it video shoot... but he decided to flip a couple packs at a undisclosed (but well known) spot around Lake Pontchartrain..... but by the time he made it to the video set, she was gone...and that Fiend broke into his car and stole his radio.

:ohhh: that nikka art barr really is the goat
