A lot of older NY'ers need to get off that new NY rappers shouldn't rap over trap beats. A guy like Bobby Shmurda came up on Lil Boosie, 50 Cent, Meek Mill not boom bap. Every region rappers doing "trap" beats now it is what it is, that sound is diverse and massively influential and keeps evolving.
