Amerikkkas first wanted is classic...
chronic 2001 has maybe about 2-4 songs the rest is garbage honestly
never heard the dogg pound

and your right Jay z only got a little play with the song with foxy Brown...Ain't no he wasn't buzzing like that in 96 while i was in grammar school probably in 6th grade everybody had on their cassete decks biggie and tupac for sure during that time nobody gave a fukk about Jay Z until he dropped Hard Knock Life vol 2 then he was huge after that

But, Reasonable doubt is actually a classic good album that was slept on and recognized once Jay was actually considered a superstar rapper...and still probably his best album

I was in 6th grade in '96 too.
reasonable doubt was in your big brother's tape deck.

youre spot on with chronic 2001 tho. SPOT ON. I mean, I wouldn't call the rest of the songs garbage but theyre painfully average.

@DaveyDave and anybody else that was wondering.

I say there have been no classics after 2003 because:
1.) there aren't any albums that I can honestly say are better than even the most borderline classic albums.
2.) none of these so-called classics of the past 10 years would be held in the same regard if they came out in better eras.
3.) im not into crowning something a classic by default. just because it excelled against weak competition. im like the BCS rankings with mine.
4.) its unfair to all the superior albums from better eras that never got that look.
5.) its a disrespect to history.
6.) it contributes to the lowering of the bar......the bar which has been lowered below sea level at this point.
7.) its just all-around tacky.

the massacre wasn't even a good album.

it was literally a weedplate in people's cribs.

and that's before jadakiss said it. he was literally just speaking on the harsh realities of that album.

one of the worst album covers ever, as well.

Mine and Whatever Concerns me
Im gonna go out on another limb and say..... *GASP!*

ATLiens is not a classic CD front to back.

Its actually my LEAST played outkast album of their first 4.

I think people just hold it up based on the fact that dre got weird, and thats what all the cacs in magazine publications say. The first and 3rd CD's are way better. Sometimes it just seemed a bit spaced out, and "try too hard to be different". Its still a very good CD though. Don't get me wrong. And im also going to say that Dre is not way better than Big Boi like people make it seem. They have different ways of bringing lyrics out, even if its sometimes the same subject matter. And because dre's may sound "smarter" based on sometimes people not understanding what he's talking about, all of a sudden he's some genius and carries big boi. NO SIR. They are both great MC's that have made timeless music together and its unfair how the masses have been duped into making some sort of disparity based on what some cacs say in some gay ass magazine. fukk outta here.

SPCM is outkast's only arguable classic.

atliens is still better than aquemini tho. I can still jam atliens every once in a while. half of it at least.

that aquemini chit is just noise. str8 boosted by a bunch of Caucasian writers.

stankonia is trash, but its my most-played outkast album simply because it has some of the best songs they ever made. problem is, those songs only account for 25% of the album.

With all of the ish being named in here, it can be said that so far 4 definite classic albums are
The Chronic
Only Built for Cuban Linx...
Illmatic
The Infamous (I saw mentioned, but only as a comparison)
I think I have literally seen every widely popular release mentioned so far.

I don't have a problem with people saying great albums are classic. We all have our favorites. I think the problem lies when people start calling 3.5-4mic albums (old Source scale), classics and it really curves the rating every other albums. You rate an average to slightly-above highly, and it takes a good album into classic status. Another thing is that people need to stop letting the artist tell them when an album is classic. Fukk ya opinion and the yes-men that co-signed it, let the people tell you it's wack.

How many albums don't have bad songs?

A lot. But simply not having bad songs doesn't thrust an album into classic status.

Lost Tapes basically is a bunch of 'small word's or 'poison's. Good songs. But there aren't many classic songs. The only song I love on it is 'nothing lasts forever'. I know how Nas Stan's move. They were baffled by not one wack song and itching for another album to rally around.

anyways Im just saying, Can It All Be So Simple (Remix) doesnt seem to get as much love as the rest of the album :yeshrug:

the only song I personally dislike is knowledge god.. just cause the beat has 0 finesse
