i'll just paste what i just posted in the other thread:

i like guns and i don't think they should be banned, but if guns were to be banned and they could get most of them from people there would still be illegal guns and criminals would still get their hands on them but it would be connected criminals with money and not everyday gang bangers or nut jobs with an axe to grind who's responsible for most shootings. if you look at countries with gun bans, high level criminals and those with money still get guns but it's much harder for everyday criminals and nutjobs, reason for "knife crime" amongst street gangs in England and not much shootings. but at this point a gun ban in america is too late cause the number of guns out there.

So your government, in 2012, is that much of a threat to you, that it justifies you having guns ?

Trust me friend, I have been face to face in these situations, and it isn't what you are picturing. And I was going against a person with a handgun, I was going against a fully automatic AK 47.

My friend I believe this is an issue where not only are you exceedingly biased, I believe you neglect your usual ability to think rationally.

The United States needs gun control. Stricter gun ownership laws. They need tight controls on the sale and manufacture of firearms. If you contest those issues even on a superficial basis how can anyone take your seriously from here on out? You would be literally ignoring the WEALTH of studies and evidence to support this thesis, and I'm afraid that's exactly what you're going to do

That's in a combat situation with different tactics terrain equipment support ect. I'm not talking about shooting a guy 500 feat away from you. I'm talking a dude is in your living room pointing his gun at you, you're not gonna shoot him first.

what happens when you misfire your gun, and hit yourself of some 3rd party?

I'm not sure you know exactly how a taser works. U have a better chance defending ur home with a gun that misfires that can potentially get off another shot than a taser that misfires.

U gotta have some seriously poor awareness to shoot a 3rd party in ur home during a breakin.

Like I said if a criminal breaks into your house and points a gun at you, you're dead. If you have time to retrieve, load a gun, and stalk the the crimin you had time to do plenty of other stuff to protect your family.

If I have a loaded weapon by my bedside and I hear my house being broken into, I'm pretty sure the first thing I'm going to do is grab my loaded firearm and protect myself and my family at all and any costs. Not everyone lives in suburbia with no crime.

You are the problem with this country and world today. All you think of is the SHORT TERM. Just because I have nothing to fear from my government TODAY does not mean it will be the case in 15 years. It is a LAST CASE situation to use guns against ones own government. Again, just because everything is all good right now doesn't mean it will be the case in the future. Its called being prepared. Its called owning ones own life and the safety and security of it. I don't depend on anyone but myself for my protection. If you have the govt protecting you, great. We will see how you feel when they come after you for something you disagree with.
