Between 5 and 7 hours. I can go to sleep easily, but I dream way too much and that affects my sleep. I don’t always wake up well rested

My sleeping pattern is fukked but it's been that way for years since I'm so used to going to bed late. If I don't have work or class, I stay up really late unless I'm heading out somewhere early in the morning.
I went to work last night, finished at 07:00, got back home close to 09:00 and I'm still up (it's 11:27 am here currently). Yesterday I only had four hours sleep too.

On average, I tend to get 5-6 hours sleep.

I fall asleep way too easily. I love naps but 30 mins can turn into 2/3 hrs quick. Whenever I go to sleep at night I tend to wake up when the sun starts shining. No alarm clock.

Be having the best dreams, I think that's why I enjoy sleeping peacefully when I can. Just like a cat

So it’s been a few days now.

I have to say that overall my sleep is getting better. I’m not ALWAYS getting 8 hours.

But I’m getting more than the 4 or 5 hours I was averaging before.

Physically I can feel the difference.

As far as what helps, muting the phone is big. That’s a distraction. If you’re texting all night or going down the YouTube/Instagram/TikTok/WhatsApp Group Chat rabbit hole, you’ll never get to sleep at a decent time.

Sure, you might miss out on the late basketball or baseball game. But those are the breaks if you’re going to prioritize sleep and health.

There was 1 day that I found it difficult to sleep. It was when I felt a little sluggish in the afternoon and took some pre workout before the gym. Even though I had coffee earlier that morning. I wasn’t jittery at night or anything. But it took longer to fall asleep. Just something to be aware of.

Of course if you don’t work the next day or don’t have to be up early, live your life. We’re not Spartans here.

But prioritizing good sleep has become important for me. Shame it took me so long to do it.

I typically get 4-6hrs
I've always been a night owl, find it hard to fall asleep
Don't take any aids, don't want become dependant on them

I think I'm functioning ok even though I don't get the "8hrs of sleep"

I actually am thinking about doing a sleep study to see if there is anything that I can change to help me sleep better
