I use to dislike him as a coach. But I thought he really improved the last couple of years. I know the team has injuries, I know he lost LeBron and I know the guards suck.

However, I really felt he was a top 5 or 6 NBA coach last year. This year he's made some questionable ass coaching decisions :mindblown:

The team owner and gm may have him tanking to avoid paying rent on the arena to the county. there's a complex formula in place in where the team doesn't have to pay rent if they don't make a certain amount of revenue.

defensive breakdowns every single 4th quarter, awful mistakes by wade in the clutch in games 2 and 4. Mostly the defense and spo playing bibby though. Bron wasn't out there making mistakes in the first place really. Coaching lost us that finals

Ya game 4 was completely on Wade and his lack of crunch time success. It's not like Lebron was being completely passive past the three point line, not doing anything off the ball, while scoring 8 points in the entire game. There is no crunch time if he actually shows the fukk up so enough of that non-sense. He was beyond awful that final series and everyone saw it.

Missed the game tying foul shot with 29 seconds left and dropped the inbounds pass on the final play. That's pretty critical.

We saw him coach those Heat teams to the playoffs before LeBron got there, he'll be fine in the long run.

He needs to drop the pace and space shyt though, they don't have the personnel (Bron or Healthy Wade) to do that anymore.

Spo is not a good coach :whoa:
The Heat had a top 3 player in Wade those seasons, not too mention it was the East. This team will not go anywhere until the current regime leaves(Riley and Spo), neither of them believe in developing young talent(yo-yoing Whiteside and Ennis/Bazz), and the core is just too mediocre(Wade and Bosh) to overcome that.

Wittman's offense sucks worse than Spo's

:manny:

What Wittman is doing out there right now...:francis:

Switch coaches with the Hawks and they have the best record in the east :yeshrug:

ETA: They still lack depth though. However, I think Beal/Wall would be even better players.

Yeah but you fail to mention how while the LAND where the arena arena is located is owned by the county, The Miami Heat PAID every-single-cent of the $215M that it took to build the arena. That is the deal they had.

I'm fine with you bringing that up but make sure you tell the whole story rather than put up the headline that lets people think they got an arena for free for 13 years.

THe County was begging corporations to buy that land and make something of it to brighten up downtown. Noone took it.

BTW they did something similar for the Arscht Center

i didn't say anything about the arena construction part of the deal. i mentioned the failed yearly rent contract which may be the result of creative accounting too savvy for county administrators to comprehend.

and former miami dade commissioner arthur teele got them the construction money from county funds.

Chapter Nine
EGO, EGO EVERYWHERE, AND NOT A DROP OF SENSE
Earlier this year, when it looked as though the Miami Heat almost certainly would move to Broward, Dade County Commission Chairman Art Teele sat at the downtown arena watching the team take on the Chicago Bulls. Alongside him during the February 23 contest were several Broward County legislators, including State Rep. Fred Lippman from Hollywood. Throughout the game, Lippman teased Teele: In the future, Lippman laughed, Teele would have to drive up to Broward to watch the Heat play. Soon they would be the Broward Heat.
Teele was not amused. The Heat abandoning Miami -- and leaving his very commission district -- would be a stunning blow to his power and prestige, and he simply was not going to let that happen. In the weeks that followed, Dade's efforts to build a new downtown arena for the NBA franchise kicked into high gear. The frenzied activity culminated in emergency meetings of both the Dade County Commission and the Miami City Commission on March 29. After cursory debate and very little attention given to details, commissioners approved a plan to spend $210 million on the project.

THis is incorrect IMO. I followed the Arscht-Center and Miami Heat arena project very closely because we used those in my project management class back then. The county spent some money in the deal but the construction of the arena came from Micky. Which is why I remember the Panthers said they didnt wanna spend thier own money and bounced to Broward. The Arscht Center was a similar deal for the county with a donation of the tower building and land from Sears Roebuck in return for other sh!t

I can look up the info im talking about and post later when i have time.

Anyway

yes, the owner had/has some skin in the game as they say, but i'm of the opinion that he's scamming the county and taxpayers like most professional sports organizations. joe robbie got $0 tax money to build dolphin stadium back in the day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Robbie

the marlins deal is/was a disgrace and got a former mayor recalled from office.

Keep your panties on man :pachaha:

Nowhere did i say Spoelstra was better. Notice I NEVER said Spoelstra was a great coach and notice to how i capitalized great when i mentioned RIvers.
I feel Rivers is a very good coach but I dont like the "GREAT" label people keep tagging him with. He's not in the Phil, Riley, Pop discussion. At least not yet.But listening to some of the clones here and out there you'd think he was
That is all i'm saying.:manny:

I was just making a point. Spoelstra always dissappointed me. Rivers seems to be a terrible GM, doesn't take away the fact that his teams often overachieved. Spoelstra's teams have largely underachieved.
