I don’t recall who but it was while comparing the 2016 warriors to the 1987 lakers and that he could slow him down while the focus goes on worthy and magic I think. He only averaged 17/6 that season. Didn’t make an all defense or all nba team that year. He was 41 and was clearly not their top guy anymore and arguably the #3 on offense at that point.Who said that stupid shyt![]()
Ain’t you the one who always shyts on Curry for being outplayed in the Finals/not winning any FMVPs?? But y’all callin some fraud who was the best player in only 1 of the 7+ Finals series he was in GOAT??
Old man played in an era so weak before Magic came and saved his ass he won one of those MVPs with a 40-42 record as he “led” the Lakers straight to the lotteryCalling this guy GOAT but he couldn’t even make the playoffs for 2 different seasons in his PRIME years from 75-79; and only managed a “GOAT” 1-2 record in playoffs series that he did manage to crawl into during that time. Then Magic got drafted, carried his ass to a ring winning FMVP his rookie year, all while feeding Kareem to his career high FG% for a season and 4 more rings after that.
KAJ ain’t even the best CENTER of all-time, don’t disrespect real GOATs putting him anyhwere near #1, shyt is insulting![]()
Counting high school on up through college and NBA, Kareem has gotta be the GOAT no question imo. Came through and accomplished damn near everything you can accomplish. Was the best center in an era with (older) Wilt Chamberlain, Nate Thurmond, Bob Lanier, Bill Walton, Moses Malone, Dave Cowens, and then STILL gave younger Hakeem and Patrick Ewing that work a decade later. I think while Magic (and then Worthy to an extent) brought the dynamic element a Kareem-based team needed, it can still be argued that Magic didn't truly take over and run the Showtime Lakers as we know Showtime to be until 1986-87. Meaning they still looked to Kareem first if they needed a bucket, outlet pass, board, or block until basically the end. Has his flaws but damn if the other guys in his stratosphere as NBA players don't too. Good thread.
. He was not the best player on the court every time he stepped on it. Jordan was.
GOAT basketball player. HS/College/Pros
Kareem won with multiple coaches, in different offenses, in different roles(1,2, and 3) with different teams.
He was drafted to an expansion franchise and in his first season led them to the conference final and a title in his 2nd. That's absurd.
To use a current example imagine an nba team being founded during the 2016-2017 season. Lonzo Ball being drafted number one to that team and leading them to the WCF in his rookie year. Then in his sophomore year leading them to 66 wins and the title.
