So from what I gather, there's not really a general consensus on what a "pure scorer" actually is or what it entails.
Considering guys like Kobe and Melo are considered the best "pure scorers" relating to their skill set and ability to score from anywhere on the floor, and yet they shoot in the mid 40's in terms of FG%, is the skill set itself overrated? I know it makes them "complete" offensive players, but I'm here looking at D. Wade whose jumper has been broke since '09 and never been a good 3 point shooter, and yet he's shooting better than 50% somehow.
Why doesn't the complete skill set translate into tangible success? I know it makes it much harder on the defender knowing the guy you're guarding can hit the 3 ball, has a deadly midrange game, and can take you down to the block and score with his back to the basket, but if he (the offensive player) isn't actually doing all of that stuff in real life at a super efficient rate, what's the point?
