Genetic testing seems to be the standard for everyone now. Especially over 35.
Believe it or not my regular ob does not offer it. I had to go through my mfm to get it and it was optional because I’m not over 35. Those test are expensive mine was 700 after insurance.

While this is true, it definitely depends on the level of dysfunction. Im sure the doctor is seeing something to suggest that. But most people with Down are very sick and they rarely live past the age of 60. Once the parents are old taking care of them becomes almost impossible. It's a life altering decision, not always easy.
nikkas without downs barely make it to 22. 60 is a lot of years.

It’s hard because you don’t know the level of diability the child would have. Could be completely functional or on the other end of that spectrum.

from what i know, their first test was the basic blood/genetic test and it came out with a higher than normal probability of Downs so they went for the test (dont know what its called) that confirms 100% there are extra chromosomes and is in fact positive for downs.

Yea. They are expensive. My obgyn office has the pamphlets laying around everywhere :skip:

I don't have kids but everyone I know has had it done.

My fear in life is having children and them being having a life altering disease (down syndrome, autism, etc); blind, deaf, gay, etc

I truly fear all the wrongs I've done in life will be brought down to my kids, hence, as time has gone on I'm leaning towards not getting married and having kids.

I have no problem with them in real life, to each is own. And obviously it's not at the same level as those, but let's be honest, having a flaming guy kid such as Magic's son must be very difficult
