I'm not understanding how Ross has anything to do with his statement yet his name is plastered all over this thread

I'm not talking about the mixtape, I'm talking about the song Rich Forever, that's on the deluxe version of GFID.

Plus, that whole "why am I listening to this" can be applied to mainstream hip hop anyways. Why would you listen to Watch The Throne when you got Kendrick Lamar? Yeah I understand what Lil Duval was trying to say, but obviously most of it was for effect. You think basketball players listen to MF DOOM or some shyt before the game? Naw, every songs serves a purpose. Asking why you're listening to this when you got this is like asking why am I eating from a spoon when I got a fork.

I like the song Rich Forever. it's dope. Ross is spitting. But what is Ross really saying? When I listen to LIG Nas is pouring his heart out on the mic. That's the difference. Of course it can apply to most mainstream music. That's the whole point Duval is making. It can also apply to underground music, because Action Bronson and Roc Marciano ain't talking about nothing relevant either, and I'm a BIG fan of their music as well. I agree with you that everything has a place though. But the mindless stuff is going to take a backseat until LIG runs its course for me.

that is true,..though.

which is a cosign to lig being nas softening up even more and losing his edge more and more as he sells out.

nas albums after illmatic are disco level wackness.

like aretha franklin trying to make donna summers style disco.

shyt is so far out of the element of what he is culturally or historically.

you just turn it off after the first spin.

basically nas's career after illmatic is let's try to save it by putting out a great advance. with the only good records, on the whole project.

then put out the other just good enough throw away trash where we made a bunch of sellout records.

that if they were on the advance. we would have no anticipation and we would ruin his overall quality career wise. worse than we have by having him go from making cultural music. to wack sellout pop style records,..nas is not at all versed in to make.

nas selling out is like a roots reggae act trying to make shaggy style dancehall pop trash.

it does not work and will never work. as nas is not that type of artist at all.

as a matter of fact rap is cultural music.

which should never be subject to being created in a pop template or sentiment purposefully as an overall direction.

Art I think it's kind of a broad reach to say every album after illmatic was disco level wackness. Dude has put out quality music since then, but it seems like you want him to stay in a box forever. Really breh? You want a 38 year old man making music from a 17 year olds perspective? :wow:
If you want that then you got 2chainz. It's like nas said

"They thought I'll make another "Illmatic"
But it's always forward I'm moving
Never backwards stupid here's another classic"
