I'm just going off what I learned in 400 level Latin American history classes. The Romance languages French, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian come directly from Latin. Hispanics are Latino but so are Brazilians and Haitians. People often confuse it becuz the vast majority of Latin American countries are Hispanic. Google will tell you that as well
