Yachty is trash but his point is still valid. shyt you can even see on this booth, out of all the threads on the front page maybe 2 or 3 are about artists who are relevant today. Old nikkas have to accept that rap is not the same, it's not like 96 where you can read the source and find the nicest artists out. It's the fukking internet age, if you too lazy to do some digging to find an artist you like then stop fukking complaining. nikkas reference 5 artists and then talk about how the entire genre is trash now.
I just feel like you can't tell either sides shyt.

Old heads is like
"I don't like Young Thug, so all modern day hip-hop is garbage and everytime I talk about it being garbage I'm going to bring up Young Thug":ld:

And young heads is like
"You don't like Young Thug? You a hater who still listens to Drag-On mixtapes on cassette":childplease:

I feel like hip-hop music is in the best place it's ever been for the consumers.

There are endless media outlets one can use to discover new artist that make music they want to hear. There's no point in complaining about the ones you don't like because you're not being forced to listen to their music.

Like you go to a Drake thread and it's the SAME nikkas complaining about how much they don't like his music over and over and over again. nikka how bout you focus on the music you do like instead of devoting all your time to music you don't?

And the youth needs to understand that some people just ain't gunna feel your shyt and don't need to be labeled haters just because they don't.

And I can understand an old head not connecting with the music of the youth.

Hip-hop today is just different that what it used to be and that's something we all have to accept.

And shyt I'll admit there's some old heads that just hate on anything the youth is apart of.

To see dudes saying the whole XXL freshman list is trash is a god damn lie because G Herbo is out here making some really good music.

I've heard good things about Dave East too although I haven't listen to his music.

But as a young nikka I just don't want old heads thinking this goofy muthafukka is some shyt the entire youth is cosigning :dahell:

I'm not some hardened music connoisseur, but I grew up listening to various genres and some of it was old and new(at the time), so this has nothing to do with me being attached to one sound; some of these nikkas are straight up :trash:. And a couple of my favorite artists in other genres are always changing their sound, not coming at you OP, but I get tired of this accusation from young dudes whose entire frame of reference for music seems to be trap/turn up/ mumble shyt:what:

But let's keep it 100.
There are some old heads who just hate anything the new school is doing.
I can honestly say I go back and forth. I love turn up trap shyt but I also enjoy artist who can actually spit.

But I feel like the old heads don't realize there's so many more ways to find to music other than what's on the radio or what's on television that to hear somebody who can spit might require you to dig a little bit more than it used to. But they are still there.

It's like they say
"I'm gunna use what's being played on the radio to dictate the current state of hip-hop" when that's just not how it works anymore.

Yachty just using this for promo. He doesn't actually give a fukk about the genre either way. Lettuce be honestly.

Also, you'll find far more old heads who will do gymnastics to cosign new school trash (either to line their pockets or out of desperation to seem 'relevant') than old heads 'hating'.

This couldn't be farther from the truth and The Coli is clear evidence of that.

That's the point though.
YOU have to dig. I can't determine what you're going to like.

Go to the coli of all places to discuss this when thecoli hates on 99 percent of new rappers that isn't Krit, Kendrick, Cole etc. And doesn't even bother to check out new ones unless they get a big co sign, extreme hype or do something to gain attention. Posters on here were hating on Kodak black In one of the first Kodak threads made on here when I was hyping him up..now :russ: :francis:

Remember when there were YG threads and they would get barely any replies, or mad hate claiming he's trash then Drake.. the supposed most hated rapper on here did a song with him and now this forum dikkrides YG:mjlol:

Maybe I'm wrong but I think that this is a core issue amongst the older heads. I'm an older head myself and this irks the hell out of me. Anytime quality hiphop/talent/lyricism is brought up, the word "dig" has to be used. We have to "find" rappers who actually.......RAP:mindblown: and meanwhile, cats who LITERALLY say that they aren't rappers (Lil Yachty) get the most shine and are FORCED down the masses throats.

What this has done is give up and coming rappers little to no incentive to actually RAP. They see these mumble, elementary, ABC type rappers getting all the fame, fortunes and IG models and they say "I want that too:ohhh:". So a dude who might can be the next Nas dumbs himself down to fit in with what's popping on the radio (and yes radio exposure helps ALOT contrary to what the coli says).

This same thing has happened in R&B also. There's little incentive to making REAL soulful R&B anymore and REAL singing, so young up & coming singers follow what's being played on the radio: this hybrid rap-singing over trap beats featuring the hottest in the moment rapper:yeshrug:

Just my take on it. I just wish there was more balance as far as actual talent getting the opportunity to have a mainstream look.

Back in my day cats like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Canibus and even Pharoah Monch could be heard on mainstream platforms.

There was BALANCE.

Please don't ever mention The Coli ever again. You already know that most of these posters are braindead lames.

In the real world, older cats who are still active fans of hip hop are tumbling over themselves to like some new bullshyt. Let's use rappers as an example. Have you ever seen a prominent rapper from the old school who is still active shyt on the new school? :jbhmm: I need them receipts.

The entire game is run by old dudes more than ever before. when you go to radio or some exec for publicity/business, who are you seeing? An old ass face.

That's the point though.
YOU have to dig. I can't determine what you're going to like.

nikkaz is acting like hip hop are custom boxers or some shyt :mjlol: This mentality is partly why this genre is total trash now. The irony being that while you're pretending hip hop is so fukking diverse and there's a sea of brilliant shyt to discover if you just search, the reality is that it's less diverse than it has ever been sonically because 99% of aspiring rappers insist on one-size-fit-all flows, production and subject matter with irrelevant (and minor) differences in image.

How are these so-called dope internet rappers gonna be discovered if you as a hip hop fan wont even mention their names/great songs in convo? :jbhmm:

Dope is dope, and the cream rises to the top. If you're an actual fan, you share that cream with others. And if it's actually good, it'll keep rising to the top until it reaches where it's supposed to go.

I have more respect for Yachty than that Uzi clown because Yachty actually tried to rap/freestyle on the radio over a beat he wasn't that comfortable with even though he was terrible. Uzi didn't even try & even disrespected hip hop which rubbed me & others the wrong way. My preference is this: if you're nice on the mic I'll listen to you no matter what region or how old you are. If not then :trash: Yachty might have a small point but he's really not that good or talented honestly so he's gonna get criticized unless he steps his game up

But what if you a young nikka and you think this shyt is trash :jbhmm:

shyt I'm in my 20's and I mean I can rock with rappers that ain't spitting the deepest bars.

Skippy Da Flippa
Migos
Peewee Longway
Mozzy
Philthy Rich
Rich tha Kid

All make music that in my opinion goes hard.

But I took a good time out yesterday to listen to the new cats that's supposed to be making the most noise right now (Famous Dex, Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage etc) and it seems like complete garbage. :snoop:

So is it possible to even critique music now and days without being labeled a "hater" or "old head"? :jbhmm:

I'm 30 and listen to all those cats you named..but I agree all these wierdo n hipster trap nikkas that blew up this year are complete garbage, worst subgenre since snap music.
