You can supermax him at 29 but you can’t supermax him then live with complacency with the rest of your roster, because the past couple years should’ve showed them they need more to contend then an elite scoring backcourt we’ve seen this story before
you've just shown right here why your first post was wrong...you can certainly supermax him, you still need a competent roster. curry aint winning shyt alone, not sure why yall acting like dame could/should

so they should let their best player walk¿*

Dame still has 2 years left on his contract. A lot can happen in that time (i.e. injuries). They could still offer him that money later (no one is gonna offer 30 year old guard 190 Million) in 2 years or trade him for a haul (picks, young players) to teams in win-now mode (i.e. Lakers). That extension makes him untradable.

paying Lillard the super max is not why they won't advance, other teams being constructed better is why they won't. i know we're captive to the moment, but dame is who makes them relevant from a viewership perspective and is why they even found their way to the WCF, sweep or not. they simply need more pieces
CJ was just as instrumental to Portland getting to the war as Dame... dude hit a lot of big shots in 4th quarter for them all postseason. He was the reason they beat Denver in game 7

in those scenarios do you see a finals trip or ring coming out of it.........portland should hold on to son they may never get another player that caliber that intends on being a one franchise player for better or worse*

i'm not taking anything away from cj's efforts, but dame is a level above from the perspective of talent and star power...you can make these same arguments about klay bailing out curry and the warriors in various series, but over the course of a season, they're not the same.

I disagree. Cj can create his own shot and get it off. He does it differently than Dame too. He’s taking you off the dribble and getting into the midrange. I been a huge fan of CJ for a couple of years.

I do agree Dame is in a while another level when it comes to star power

Understood but they will still be able to resign a guard who's going to be 31 in 2021 for the same amount or less.

Why do you guys selectively read

Curry won a title as a best player on the team so what you’re saying doesn’t make sense

Why would you use the player that just cooked the nikka and swept his team as the best player as an example of what you’re trying to prove
