Kiss went platinum according to Soundscan

I remember late 05 on some message board they posted the numbers and it was at like 999,000 and some change. He was a few hundred away from a million sold and nikkaz online was protesting on some "come on somebody go cop that shyt so my nikka Kiss can go plat", and the next week he moved those few hundred and squeezed by the million mark. Kiss was one of my top 2 or 3 favorite rappers back then and I thought KOD was a huge upgrade from KTGG and kept up with those numbers to see when he hit a million. Pretty sure KTGG eventually moved a million too.

And Curtis vs Graduation was a big thing in 07, Curtis moved 600k+ first week alone. It was platinum within a month or 2 tops.

so technically he's still at gold... SOUNDSCAN AND RIAA ARE TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT COMPANIES... they do NOT share info or use the other's numbers at all

i'm sure you're correct... and he has gone plat..

BUT unless Jada sent off the paperwork to the RIAA to have them recalculate the numbers from today, he'll never see that plaque or be certified plat

which makes me wonder, since it's only 400-500 bucks, why more artists don't apply and get their certs (like a coli nikka ) so they can brag about being platinum

But yea I didn't know rappers had to pay to get certified, that's prolly why it still says he's gold

KTGG went gold within a month or 2 and that was back when selling 20-50k a week 2 or 3 months after release wasn't impressive for a major artist

Same for KOD which sold more than KTGG

For Nas to be up there with Outkast, Snoop, Beasties, Kanye and just behind Snoop and Eminem is impressive too.


Only dudes from the list I think can still increase their platinum tally are Eminem, Jay-Z , Drake.
Kanye maybe but I feel like he's gonna see a real decrease on his next album. I believe Yeezus only shipped plat.

From the list, if they were to drop an album tomorrow, I can see Outkast, Wayne, Lauryn Hill, J. Cole, BEP, Kendrick and Missy, as well as the ones you mentioned, selling a milli no problem.
