I realised this after my 5th or 6th listen of Summer Knights. I loved 1999 because the beat selection was A+ and Joey was like 16/17 at the time so I wasn't expecting anything super introspective but as he (and the crew) have gotten older, their content has stagnated.
I hear most of their current stuff and I just wanna throw on my Heltah Skeltah collection.

Pretty accurate, I still check on these dudes from time to time to see if I missed out on any gems

True but Joey stopped making focused songs. Waves is still my favorite song from him. He's just rapping to be rapping now. He was more introspective at 17.
I feel the same way about Earl Sweatshirt although he's ridiculously nice. I expected more from them then just throwing a beat on and rapping aimlessly. Make songs that are memorable.

I don't even necessarily need a rapper to paint a picture every song, but them dudes dont even have dope lines to quote from just spitting on the mic. Like dude said, theyre just rapping to rap at this point.

1999 and their the last mixtape that Steez was part of was cool but I still havnt gotten around to listen to Joeys album. I play one or two songs and I get bored. Dont like his new delivery at all. And like you said, they dont say anything.

Dude is all over those Nick Wiz compilations full of unreleased tracks and rare remixes 4 the 90s...he's like the only artist on there that deserved to have his shyt shelved. Man is painfully average
