Yeah man it sucks. They kind of addressed this on Not Enough on Minstrel Show. Early on Phonte made a decision that "our competition is Slum, Blackstar, etc". I don't think they thought NC would support. In hindsight maybe they were a couple of years too late. I always never saw a reason why they couldn't be on the level of your Kweli, Monch, Mos, Roots.
Well if you from NC you already know they keep the same shyt in rotation. Thats why I think after that incident in Fayetteville was fukked up. These dudes was known all over and people at that show didnt even know the music. The reason being they keep the same artist in rotation.

LB & Justus League :blessed:

I remember the first time hearing the beat from Morning kick in on the The Listening, it literally felt like a breath of fresh air :wow:

LB as a group are my favourite group of all time and Phonte is one of my favourite rappers of all time but I have to co-sign with everybody saying Pooh was criminally slept on. His verse on Hiding Place is arguably the most standout verse (besides Elzhi's) on the entire album.

If it wasn't for LB, I would have never been introduced to Median and IMO, he's one of the best rappers I've ever heard. Path to Relief, Median's Relief (classic) and The Sender are quality albums.

Yup. Heard Median through LB, first time I heard Comfortable with that Luther sample :lawd: All his projects quality.

this is where you wish a dudes ike Jay or Diddy, where instead of spending a million dollars on a car or some sh*t, would kick 4-5 hundred thousand for a budget to dudes like this who make good music. Doesnt even have to be a physical release, maybe just iTunes or something.

But just something for the artform itself.

LB's legacy is one of the main reasons that I'm really pulling for Rapsody and support all of her projects. I would hate it if such a talented crop of artists never really get the shine they deserve.

Na I wont at the show but I remember hearing they performed they ass off and the crowd was just looking.

:wow: that's probably the worst feeling for an artist.

Me too. She's a great person too man. I was really pulling for Jamla pretty hard in 2010 and 2011, but then in 2012 when they finally started dropping projects on iTunes instead of their FreEPs it just seems like not as many people checked for it. If you look at the "FrEPs" that are honestly free LPs because most are at least an hour and some are even 75-80 mins---there's some amazing hip-hop that was dropped over the last few years. In 2011 they were dropping a free project basically every month trying to generate that buzz and that following.

Rapsody probably has the biggest buzz, especially with Skyzoo off the label now, but there's so many dope artists. I feel like Big Remo could be successful. Away Team has a lane that they fit great into, but it didn't seem like Duck Down pushed the album. Act Proof is a really dope duo that I think has a lane. HaLo and GQ both have a unique sound. The Soul Council is all really talented.

It just seems like they've had a lot less releases since Sleepwalkers, Black Boy Radio, Boogie Nights, and The Idea of Beautiful dropped. I'll keep supporting whatever they put out, and I'm glad my boy Sean Boog is running the shop.

it was 99% the production. 9th was really inspiring to anybody trying to make beats around that time

I disagree. Phonte is one of the most underrated artists of the last decade and Pooh was a great spitter that stole the show on quite a few tracks. A lot of LB's music post 9th Wonder was just as good as some of their music with 9th. Khrysis and Illmind both did production for that is among LB's best material. Same goes for Nottz, Mr. Porter, Nicolay...

Jamla is my favourite label right now since everyone on the label is talented. Tom Hardy was my favourite rapper on the label but since he's left, Rapsody's really stepped up. She miles ahead of how she was on Return of the B-Girl. I've been to listening GQ and Act Proof a lot recently as well.

I didn't know Sean Boog was running everything now :leon:

Boog is doing a good job. He's a veteran out here, and is probably the only member of the original Justus League besides Pooh and Phonte that's still releasing music regularly. He's done a lot of projects, both as a part of Away Team with Khrysis and also on his own. Listen to how far Boog has come from back when he was called Defcon, to early Away Team, to now. It's pretty crazy to hear the difference.
