Eh, I would counter this by saying studying what we’ve done here on this soil is enough to have us walking around like entitled little pricks. We have a great history here and if one is squarely rooted in it, these little squabbles foreigners have with us would not even faze us because they can’t compete. We wouldn’t be seeing them. This is our 400th year here. The descendants of the Mayflower Pilgrims can’t even claim that right now.

Studying West African history has done nothing for my self-esteem. It’s good to know but there is no relevance. All the pride that I have comes from what we did here. The problem with most of us, is that the education that our families provided were woefully inadequate, and so many of us can’t seem to view our history beyond slavery and even worse, look at the enslavement period as something to be ashamed when it should be a source of pride.
