I don’t care if you can only put away $50 a paycheck, put something aside..always pay yourself first. If you can’t do that, it means you are living above your means..Even if you live with moms, you should be able to put something aside…I work with people making $50k and up a year and many are running on fumes come the middle of the 2nd week after payday..This is unacceptable and if this is your lifestyle, it means you are irresponsible, especially if you are over the age of 25.

Some might say "I got bills, thats why I'm broke" ..To that I say, if you are coming up short by the end of the first week, somethings gotta go, cable, internet, dining out etc..nygga, something gotta go..The problem is people don't want to let go of what think everyone else has...nikka you can't afford 5 premium channels, cut dat shyt down to 1 or get rid of cable all together..I'm sick of people asking me for money, many of whom make more than me

I understand student loans is a big one, I'll give you nyggas a pass to a degree but if you debt free and check to check fuk ya....

If you ask me,based on MY description of "check -to-check" i feel like over 90% of working people in this country do live check-to-check.

See, i have been making a conscious effort to save lately. At some point i think i reached about 9K in savings but right now it's back down to about 5K. Even with 8K i still felt like living check-to-check. because with my expenses 9K last me like... 2 to 3 months, maybe? When you consider mortgatge, car payment, student loans and so on.
Unless you have about 6-8 months worth of expenses saved you're a layoff/bad accident away from disaster in this economy. Sleep tight, suckas!

Not necessarily. Capitalism only works if there's an underclass so its gonna be like that for many people by design

Most people don't even attempt to save or invest any of their income, and they try to live at or above their means.
If you're a single person who doesn't live in NYC/LA/DC/SJ and you make above 50k a year, you should not be living paycheck to paycheck.
There are people who live in the suburb I go to school in who make over 100k a year and are struggling from paycheck to paycheck, because they mortgage a 500k house, drive a brand-new Bimmer, have student loans, and spend frivolously.

this is true, but i work with plenty of motherfukkers on that 'i need my check, cant wait til my check', not even worth 4 figures and they make enough to not be in that situation. like all you have to fukkin do is go about a month or two without spending money on bullshyt
