The biggest issues I see with paycheck to paycheck folks is they made some pretty horrible life choices early on, or are just plain dumb. I can legitimately say that the few ones I can see are the ones that have chronic health issues, failed marriages late in life, affected by disasters etc.

Outside of that? If you had kids with a deadbeat or thot by 20, racked up debt, and live beyond your means? You cant seriously think you're making the best financial decisions?

Blaming corporate big wigs is easy, because you have to know the game is rigged. Like any other. Its only going to get worse as more and more people compete.

Yeah what up with that. The main argument should be that corporations are not pay what they should pay employees in which is why they are living pay check to pay check because most of their money goes to bills on things that have increased but our pay has not.

Most of our generation will likely work until they die, never have enough to retire on and never pay back their debts. Foreign laborers do lower wages for blue collar workers though. You can’t say the Coli is out of touch about how life is like for the average person but then be such a classist that you don’t care about how illegal immigration deflates wages. Wages have kept stagnant for decades. The average American makes like $40,000, is in debt up to his eyeballs, has very little saved for retirement and doesn’t have ten $100 bills in the bank. I think the 1% captured some 80% of the wealth generated last year. Companies took that tax cut and bought back shares instead of investing in their employees and companies If you can read all that and still support 500,000 to 1 million undocumented people coming in every year then you definitely give no fukks about anyone but yourself.

I’ve been replying to individual comments in this thread but not the OP and the thread topic specifically. nikkas will never admit that illegals damper wages for the poorest Americans and it’s highly irritating when it’s readily apparent to anyone that’s looking. That’s one thing. But as far as the thread topic is actually concerned, wages are constrained because the elite are hoarding the wealth. Because of automation. Offshoring. Overworking workers for less pay after realizing what they could get away with post 2007-2008. Credential inflation. Debt loads making job seekers desperate. Plus illegal immigration. When you bundle it all together, it’s a dangerous cocktail designed to keep us all racing to the bottom so they can pocket the surplus.
