Do you think the countries.listed have more or less purchasing power?

:mjlol:
Doesn't matter if you don't represent the amounts with purchasing parity represented.

Just showing conversion rates is fukking useless.

And yes, some nations have more purchasing parity with those wages.

$100 in the US is nothing in Australia even for the cost of goods and services

If the mininum wage doesnt cover the basic costs of food and shelter etc, is it really the true cost of labor? if we are okay with the government subsidizing the cost of labour with social services for the working poor, why couldnt corporations simply have the government cover all the costs? Isnt the purpose of employment to cover these costs as best as you can?

I see a gap thats supposed to be inherent.

If you work for MW, that isn't supposed to cover you. Its just supposed to represent the basal amount of compensation.

ITs not meant to support a family or anyone on hard times. Its merely the representation of a transaction of labor.

There are ways to supplement that OR many people on MW work part time or use other means like welfare or food stamps. And not to mention only 2% of workers are making MW.

So where does this leave us?

We can argue if marginal wages need to increase. I agree. But theres no way to raise the wage floor enough to affect middle income earners....without some sort of massive legal precedent.

Even industry specific MW would be interesting. Or age graduated MW would change how I view MW as a basal floor of wages.

Gang violence...
dont you progressive jerks understand that being able to "live" on your wages is a drag on the economy?

you libtards dont get it. yes it is smart to pay executives millions of dollars, but we cant afford to risk overpaying the people who do the work by a few bucks. those workers' IQs are only at 95, while the execs can score an average of 115 after a coke binge and a wild night with hookers. that 20 point difference matters A LOT!!! does it make sense now, you commies?!

Japan, France, Canada all with higher minimum wage and comparable PPP. All with more extensive social safety nets as well.

Do you not realize what purchasing parity is????????

You can't just post the converted dollar amounts.

Purchasing parity is assessed often in ratios, not dollar amounts!!!

The proble with the argument that wage increases have a direct negative correlation with price increases and unemployment is not only is the research against it, its that simply from a logical perspective the inverse would have to be true.

Lowering wages will lead to lower prices and less unemployment, therfore Greeks should lower wages and everything will work out. A 0.30 cent minimum wage in greece will lower all prices and make labour very affordable.

talking about exec pay doesn't change anything.

Ya'll love talking about MW as if thats the problem.

MW won't increase middle wages, and wages above MW.

Japans economy has been stagnant or receding for the past 3 decades.

France has high unemployment especially with their youth aka the people that are supposed to get into these MW jobs...

Food for thought
