this has to be the most back-handed compliment ever.

:smh:

Nah, it's not, there's A LOT of rappers in the world. I respect and like LL as an artist, he has a lot of talent, just there's people I prefer overall as an artist such as...

KRS-One
Rakim
Nas
Jay Z
Rakim
Big Daddy Kane
Biggie
K-Rino
Big Pun
Bizzy Bone
Cormega
AZ
Canibus
Z-Ro
Scarface
Guru
Big L
Slick Rick
Fat Joe
Chuck D
Common
2 Pac

And some others, but that's not a diss to LL at all, I'm a fan and I have his whole discography and still check for him to this day. It's just a preferenace, I think it's partly to do with subject matter why I prefer some others over him. Plus within top 50 means somwhere within that, that could be top 12 or whatever, in my personal list I'd estimate LL would be somewhere around top 20. L is a legend, pioneer and should be respected, he is a dope lyricist and technically very sound, but there are others catelogues I prefer which makes it hard for him to be even higher on my list.

Alot of nikkas need to be slapped in the face for the utter and blatant disrespect itt.

LL Cool J - Pink Cookies In A Plastic Bag - YouTube

I didn't fully appreciate Pink Cookies until years later. I read the title, heard the hook, watched the video for like 1min then turn. It wasn't until I watched it a few years later, then listened to what he did in the lyrics to say "OK L, he spittin".

That said, he's lost his GOAT spot a while ago to Nas. LL has also fallen behind G Rap & Scarface, Rakim is still ahead so I'd put him in Top 7.

:hmm: @ most of those names.

you gotta seperate your favorites list from your official list.

everybody has preferences. i prefer to listen to lil boosie over krs-one but you'll never see me put boosie ahead of him on an official all-time list.

LL is just a dude who made like 2 good albums. It's funny all the :flabbynsick: old heads hate on "this generation" of rappers meanwhile their daddy LL is putting out truly offensive trash like this in the "current generation"

how can anyone who rapped those lines be in your top 10 :mjlol:

LL was a kinda gimmick to me. Never respected him as a real rapper. He was like a pop version of Too $hort.

LL was out long before too short. and they have nothing in common anyway. [...]

Nah, Too $hort released "Don't stop rappin'" in '83, LL released "Radio" in '85.

They're both some type of smooth player rappers; they're not too different.

Too $hort was selling tapes out of the trunk, LL had the whole machine behind him since his introduction to the game; he was pop from the start.
