I'm a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay bigger fan of x, but this ain't the late 90's. Banks would tyson Holmes him

:mjlol: at "this ain't the 90's".

It's not the early 00's, either. Banks been washed for like 15 years. Banks only platinum album came out in 2004. DMX was still going plat in 2003. They are not remotely in the same stratosphere.

I feel like some of yall are trolling but the responses are so sincere. Banks is a C tier artist compared to DMX, who was a legit super star in his prime. Banks, in his prime, wasn't even the hottest artist on his label. A far better vs would be 50 and DMX.

And I'm not even sure 50 would win that....so how the fukk is his lil man gonna win? :what:

Canibus is widely considered amongst the all the greatest lyricists.

Lloyd Banks name is only brought up in the Coli, like ever.
False canibus is nothing and he's never been. LL wrapped up his career. NO ONE is bumping his music. No one gives a shyt about his rhymes. Banks has more memorable moments than him BY FAR

Dude, both careers been down hill but I'm not even talking about that.
Banks kept spitting very well even when the hits slowed down.
Dmx cannot spit anymore.
He barely even tries lyrically.
If they battle he getting demolished.
Of course had the better career, was a super star off his own greatness and put out better retail albums by far. But he cannot go bar for bar with banks NOW or even 10 years ago.

Define "battle". Neither of these cats are dropping diss records in 2020. The current format for "battling" is the Versuz series. And DMX would destroy Banks.

X never said he wasn't a lyricist. I feel like this really needs to be established because so many people are reacting to a video they haven't seen.

No he doesn't. Canibus from 1997-2000 was a lyrical highlight reel. Canibus has more moments between Beast From the East, Desperados, Buckingham Palace than most people have in their entire careers.

Even new generation guys like Meek & Casanova are influenced by DMX, His music has reached the younger crowd.

"Lloyd Banks?!? A lyricist?!?!????"...

It was a question, not a statement. I've said it like wild times already, but one more time, he literally asked Scoop to provide evidence of Banks lyricism, because he was thrown off by him mentioning Banks. I took it because he doesn't know shyt about Banks music. Like someone said, I wouldn't be surprised if DMX thinks Banks is Tony Yayo. In his head he just thinks of them as 50's lil nikkas. So when you say his name among lyrical giants, it's gonna throw someone like X, who is not familiar with his work, completely off.

edit: I took it more as a slight to FatMan Scoop's Hip Hop knowledge than a shot at Banks. He called him out for doing what nikkas typically do, and that's putting someone on a list when they don't even know their music like that because they feel like they're supposed to.

I hear you...but I don't think that's the case...I think he abruptly stopped Scoop and said "Lloyd Banks!?!?!?? A lyricist!????!?!??" to discredit his lyricism, it was basically like him saying "gtfoh Scoop".

If not, he would have handled it way differently. A simple "I'm not familiar with Banks stuff like that to agree or disagree" would have sufficed. And now that Banks is saying that he basically turned down DMX's request to do a record with him, for whatever reason, that confirms that DMX was being disrespectful for me.

I mean, this is DMX, if he has nothing else he has integrity...I doubt he would reach out to someone for a feature whose music/pen he isn't familiar with.
