Word who did nikkas want Swizz Beats:stopitslime:
No one wanted Swizz Beats.

And I think Banks has a very dope ear.

People wanted the Havoc and ALC stimulus package that they all talked about last year. And other Banks producers like V Don, Jake One, Nottz, Beat Butcher, AraabMuzik, Daringer, Doe Pesci, etc.

I don’t think anyone wanted Swizz though. I know I didn’t.

Now that I think about it, that’s been the G-Unit style from day one. Sha Money ran G-Unit and put so many producers on. If y’all go back and check the liner notes on any 2000’s G-Unit releases, half the names I bet no one knows.

Sha would put everyone’s beats on blank CDs so the Unit wouldn’t know who made each beat, and wouldn’t be swayed by a big name. And Sha Money also signed a lot of producers to production deals and gave them priority.

Producers like Jake One, Illmind, and Nottz got a lot of placements and exposure from G-Unit. Banks saw that model barely out of high school, and I’m not surprised he’s gone on to not care about name-brand producers.

But I have heard Banks say that Havoc and Alchemist are his favorite producers. Havoc did the intro track on both of Banks’ 1st two albums and Banks had it that way on purpose.
That is correct! I remember reading this in Scratch magazine. I always thought it was the best system for beats. Heat is heat no matter the names. It was a great evolution in hip hop beat making. So many young producers got burned ghost producing in the 90s because “they had to pay dues”. Despite sending load of beats to the Unit throughout the years, Jake One said in an interview that he has never met them face to face and does everything from Seattle!
