I grew up and lived almost half my life in NYC. Left as a teen and came back in my early 30's. I've been to Philly, Boston, DC, Oakland, San Fran, Toronto, Montreal and a shyt load of smaller cities all throughout the North East. Never been to LA but I still feel confident is saying that NYC is the GOAT US city. I spent a week in London. Dope city no doubt but being an NYC head I felt like I was in Bizarro world. The language was the same but everything had a different kinda flavor to it. When I was in non English speaking Euro countries the language barrier protected me from the uncanny valley that I felt in London.

NYC's transit system...how the fukk is it still running on shyt that is 100+ years old? And after Sandy I was wondering if it would get back up at all. From what I saw of EU mass transit, all I have to say is that I was beyond impressed. You have to experience it to understand it. I will say that it's weird that the trains on the Tube don't have AC, just open windows everywhere. Like every surface above waist level opens up so the whole car is a wind party.
Amsterdam's trollies are dope, they are the double long joints that bend in the middle and there is a person at a desk that answers questions. When I saw that I just :ohlawd:.

What I will say in defence of NYC's MTA is that unless there is a crazy weather event, they run 24/7 365 and there are not many cities on Google Earf that can say that. Once you overstand that, you gotta see how NYC is always a notch above the rest without even flexing anything else.

New York and London are for completely different personalities.

London is cleaner, newer infrastructure but has less of a distinct culture. In London it’s like white people are the main character and minorities are NPCs. The European energy drowns out all the other ethnicities to a point that it’s a very white city. That’s why Pop Smoke blew up faster and bigger than any UK drill rapper while using their sound

Even with gentrification real NY culture is made by the natives and minorities. It’s the minorities and diversity that gives it flavor. The “dirtiness” and shyt that out of towners cry about is part of NY’s charm. Everybody don’t wanna be around uptight British folks with accents and perfect grammar. If that’s your style then NY ain’t for you
bro were you actually around black people when you went?

sounds like you were where all the mayo folks was at, because london is VERY diverse. I would say more so than NYC

NYC is one of the greatest cities in the world. The city that never sleeps. A vibe that makes you feel alive. However, NYC hasn't been the same since covid and since 9/11

A influx of New Yorkers have moved to the south, west or overseas because a majority of our paychecks go directly into taxes. study-reveals-us-states-with-highest-taxes-heres-where-new-york-ranks

Crime rates have remerged since 2020 and NYC has been witnessing one of its worst eras in random killings. In London, the different is that most people use knifes instead of guns. Still, a problem we have to face.

Weather. NYC is at best during the summer and spring. Sundresses with fat asses, festivals, parties, etc. The winter don't come here, you'll gonna end up doing the Harlem Shake for hours:mjlol:

Our nightlife doesn't stop until the next morning. Only a few cities can compare to us. Should've came here in the early 00's and 90's when nightlife was at its zenith!

Our boroughs got it's own character. Their own themes. Our boroughs paint a story just from traversing from neighborhood to neighborhood. You can say certain neighborhoods can go neck to neck with London due its diversity.

We have some of the greatest pizza in the world. And you don't even have to spend much! Our $1 dollar pizzas is to die for (just don't put a lot of grease lol). Chicago comes close.

We're the mecca of hip hop, one of the capitals of hustle culture, swag, trends, etc. We birth some of the greatest rappers in the game till this day.

I haven't been to London, I plan too by next year. A lot of things I admire about London is the accents, diversity, the lack of political correctness, Nottingham Carnaval, the baddies, the history of Liverpool, Drill, culture, architecture, etc. No lie, some of y'all british white women's teeth be looking like gang signs no cap:russ:

I was in Shoreditch, Brixton and the area around Regent’s Park. I saw brehs but like I said it felt like the dominant culture felt European outside of Brixton. But that’s the thing about NY, you don’t have to go deep into the hood to see minorities. Even in the white areas there’s still a presence of minorities whether it’s the people on the street or the ethnic restaurants or other stores. London felt segregated and like I had to go out of my way see anything but cacs

I've been to both several times. I think its neck and neck between the two. NYC will probably have a slight edge in nightlife tho

Nah it’s not. My grandma lives in London. I’ve been flying over there since I was a little kid and spent whole summers out there and I grew up 30 mins from NY so I can speak to both. London is dope as fukk besides the actual English food and weather but it’s not NY.

It’s impossible to understand what NY is if you’ve only been there on some tourist shyt for like a week or two. The amount of shyt you can get into and the amount of people from all over the country and internationally that you’ll randomly interact with if you put yourself out there is limitless and that’s before you even get to the food.

Shoreditch & Regents park won’t give you a good representation of London. The former (Shoreditch) used to be a bit decent from like 2014-2017 when everyone used to go there but it’s dead now. And Regents Park is posh.

Also, Brixton is heavily gentrified now & it’s not the Brixton of old unless you go to their estates like Angel Town & Myatt’s Fields or places like Somerleyton, Brixton Hill & Tulse Hill.

You should’ve gone to Camberwell (just down the road from Brixton), Walworth or even Peckham (a bit gentrified now but not as bad as Brixton) or even Lewisham. All these places aren’t far from Brixton & are always lively. And it’s pure black people everywhere.

You need to understand that London is twice the size of NYC & most black people in London don’t leave their areas unless it’s for work, social gathering/outings & shopping.

Erm, to enjoy London to the fullest - come summertime from June-August. And don’t stay in tourist areas - move around. If you don’t go around wearing Rolex, AP or Patek - no one is really going to trouble you unless you’re the unlucky type & you run into some paranoid wasteman. If you’re not on road - London is super calm as long as you don’t act bad.

What’s popping in London right now are day parties/events - that’s where you see some of the baddest chicks. People don’t really go clubbing like back in the day anymore. And go to shisha bars, especially the ones owned by Nigerians - you’ll see a lot of decent tings there as well.

If you want to reach London, just shout me via DM & I’ll send you a lot of events & places to go to.

London is like that as well. You just have to know the city & where to go tbh.

But NYC is more lively/fun.

As a Londoner, I feel the same way as well.

The 90s & 00s were the best periods but everything just changed when Boris became Mayor & started the aggressive gentrification of London from like 2010. And with that, a lot of people had to move out & a lot of places got locked off.

Also, as you get older, with responsibilities & more to lose in life - there are certain things you did back then that you won’t be able to do now.

London has its own vibe & you’ve to be from there to, get it. Hence we say “London Town” & not “London City”. The “Town” represents the cultured bit with all sauce while the “City” has no sauce.

Ngl, London is fun - you just have to know where to go & how to move. But NYC will always be a tier higher in terms of social life tho. London is also big compared to NYC.

You should’ve come to Notting Hill carnival this year - it was super crowded but still fun. And there were so many black tings from all over Europe especially Netherlands & France.

Respect. I’ve always had a good time out there. My people stay out in Thornton Heath and Brixton.

Are you Caribbean?

Thornton Heath is in Croydon albeit most people from South London don’t look at as Croydon tho. That’s where Krept & Konan are from.

Growing up, Norwood & Thornton Heath (& Clapham to an extent) used to have all the nicest Caribbean tings, especially lighties, lol. Memories, man.

London used to be so much fun (also very rowdy & dangerous). But then again, when you’re in your teen yrs to early 20s…the recklessness is part of everything & how you have fun.

Anyway, I’m from around Brixton sides & I went to school with a lot of dem Brixton lot.
