I'm assuming your a salesman, but for giggles... have you passed any series exams?
I have people in my accounting firm also who didn't major in accounting but they will NEVER work on projects that are specific to accounting knowledge.
Please don't encourage others to major in topics that require advanced degrees and your a exception to the rule.
I also am a type of person to work for myself so.....pysch doesnt work for me
I'm a financial analyst for DC Gov. I manage 62 million in grant money from various Fed Agencies. I didn't have to take any exams. My college transcript is littered with math classes because I majored in Electrical Engineering my first 3 years. My background as I posted in my first post is really well rounded. Then on top of that, I'm pretty intelligent, or at least id like to think that.
I worked at NASA HQ in DC my first summer out of high school, and my first summer back from college. I had a guaranteed 100k job promised to me from NASA out of college if I majored in Engineering, which is the only reason I gave it a shot. Didn't like the work load, and I wanted to have fun. Dropped it. To be honest, I bullshytted mostly through college. I wouldn't even go to class if it didn't have a bunch of broads, I went to FAMU

First job out of college in 2010, I was making 42K, but I worked hard and networked. 3 years later I got a job making 68K from somebody who reached out to me that I had worked with before. Now im making right at 90k, at a job that someone reached out to me for, that I had worked with before. Had those people not known me, I would have never gotten those jobs, although I never really was on the search. That's why I say networking is probably as important, if not more important than what you know. It's not enough for you to know people, but people should also know you, your work ethic, and you character in the work place. Best believe I ain't the same nikka in the office that I am in the street.
I wasted time but black people for now have to get degrees in technical stuff then the following generations can get cute and creative. We need more black attorneys. It's overflowing with cacs and "diversity" is needed.

Depends on what you major in. The problem is now a days a college degree is necessary just to even get your foot in the door.
Most of the people I know with STEM majors are doing well.
Most of the people who majored in Psychology, Sociology, Business etc are doing entry level jobs totally unrelated to their majors
My sister just got her masters in social work (with an emphasis on clinical or whatever) and recently got a salary job making 70K only working 3 days a week.
IMO whether college is worth it or not largely depends on what you wanna do long term. If you want to own your own business it's probably not necessary but could be helpful depending on what you do. For most corporate or company jobs its becoming a pre-requisite tho. Even technical jobs that used to be apprenticeship based are increasingly requiring some sort of degree or certification etc

I'm trying to understand this quote more. Are you saying because they didn't attend a HBCU, that they're struggling. Or are you saying the free ability to take black studies courses freed you up to take a more marketable degree? Could you elaborate?

I struggled so hard my senior year because of this. I really lost all motivation for school. I went from making 4.0s and 3.8s to barely graduating with a 3.0 
I used to break into classrooms over the weekend (and sometimes sleep there) so I could study in peace. Would read the entire book by the first month of class for every class, taking notes and summaries to be over prepared. By senior year, I was barely going to class

A lot of people claim anything dealing with health is great, but I still doubt it after doing my research. The money aint great, just that the jobs are expected the always be available. So I want to be a Health Educator or Community Health Consultant. Going for a BA (Public Health major, Human Services minor). I just want a degree, doubt I'll get my master's unless I HAVE TO. I'm done with school.

College is definitely not bullshyt. The problem is people didn't take college seriously enough when they are young. Yes you can party and bullshyt your way through most schools if you choose. They wont stop you. But you will pay for it later in life. For those not born with a silver spoon , college is the single biggest factor in determining your trajectory and success in life. Nobody likes to think the decisions made at 18 -25 will impact them for the rest of their life but thats just the reality. And that's what should be drilled into kids heads but when your young often times your not thinking of that.
This is partly the fault of the older generation and our parents giving kids the wrong message. Saying you should find yourself or you're young you got time.. College isnt the time to find yourself. You have to know what you're there for. Racking up loans can ruin your life. Getting a degree just to say you got a degree with no plan on how to use it or interest in the subject can ruin your life. Trying to start over at 35+ cause they messed around in their 20s aint a position anyone should strive to be in.

College has literally been the 5 most boring, useless, and pointless years of my life. A two year electrician apprenticeship would have put me in a better financial position, given me more employment opportunities, and actually taught me a useful skill.
My advice to anyone considering college- unless you know precisely what you're going to be doing there and you know that it will be worth it- skip college.

Dont blame college because you wasted 5 years of your life instead of taking it seriously.
I only blame myself. I chose to go to college because 1. I thought it was something I was "supposed" to do 2. I thought it would be "fun" and 3. I wanted to put off entering the "real world" for a few more years.
