southpole was budget/bootleg status even when it came out breh. At least in l.a it was because it was sold and marketed for kids who couldn't afford fubu

I was in the 8th grade when it started popping and i thought it was corny then.

Never hated on it i just didnt like it plus even if i wanted to i couldnt afford it back then.

Funny thing when i was younger i missed a ton of trends because i couldnt afford it .

So happy i missed a ton of those waves :whew:

All i wore was Disney shirts , old navy jeans and gap.

Before you call :duck: old navy was cheap as fukk you could get 2 pairs of jeans for 30 bucks.

My parents always took me there .

No it wasn't up until it started doing too much...

but we NEED more brands like this...we NEED to support our own. Instead of Versace, Versace, Versace we should be heralding some upscale BLACK designers name. We bash these brothas clothes, but they innovated. Instead of trying to bring back all this old designers stuff, some of these black celebrities need to help Fubu, Wu-Wear, and countless other BLACK designers come up or get their stuff out to the public...

I had a couple of FUBU outfits, I liked them cuz they were stylish and even popular back in the day. When I learned about FUBU itself, I made a conscious effort to support them brothas. Had some Fat Albert gear (just 2 shirts) also.

Wish we would stop hating on our own
. These brothas should be praised for doing what they did...

Unsettling trend, but it never fails. We want more black businesses, corporations, and clothing lines, though. :mjpls:

This.

I never understood WHY all the black people hated FUBU.

Back in the 90's black kids swore up and down that they hated the brand becase "the name was too big", and "it;s all over the place", and any other excuse for them NOT to wear the brand.

But at the same time they will rock the hell out of Tommy Hill******S even AFTER the rumor went around that he dissed black people. I try to telll them this but all i get was:

":usure: Then why does Tyson Beckford model for Hilfiger then!??!"

Me: :snoop:

And I was in the 11th grade at that time (2001). You wouldn't dare catch me in some Tommy's but I still rocked the fukk out of a FUBU t-shirt. :mjpls:

Growing up I realized, that I think it was definitely a slave issue. The older cats in their 30's were the ones down with FUBU back in the late 90's. Hell even white people wore them. But the nigs? Nah, even though they preferred to wear Rockawear, Sean John, and the brand with the cow mascot. Hell even the Snowman.

THankfully FUBU sells all over the world, shyt is still hot in Asia. Only in Amerikkka it is considered taboo.

Goatganda the pearl of Africa
Every brand ends up being corny at some point. I rocked my FUBU sweater loving life circa 96 though.

fubu was basically a streetwear brand. not many streetwear brands maintain relevancy over decades. not every streetwear brand can be stussy or supreme.

the problem is fubu made too much shyt and was flooding the streets. their collections started getting weaker and weaker and they never really evolved to changes in fashion.

the fitted hat, baggy t-shirt, baggy jeans, timbs era died and along with it went fubu who indirectly was associated with that era.
