me I love living in luxury downtown la the homeless people live here too is what it is they dont bother nobody and their respectful funny thing a lot of them CHOOSE to be homeless but unlike other states CA doesn't hide their homeless under the rail road tracks or under passes they take care of them

I see that same shyt everyday in Oakland West Oakland in particular got it really bad... ain't gon lie though I been desensitized to it for years, out here the shyt is not new. It's only gotten worse during Covid.

At the same time I do remember when it wasn't this bad... back in '06 you didn't see it in East Oakland like that, let alone under literally every single overpass or under every elevated BART rail. There were more abandoned houses and businesses to squat inside in general... there used to be hella squatters in a big 3 story brick building in the West near the abandoned train station, now its luxury lofts occupied by mostly white people lol. Also the home & rental prices were 4-5x lower... it's a lotta displaced folks these days on the streets moreso than addicts and folks don't got nowhere to crash but the streets, especially because the city's homeless services are nowhere near as developed as SF's.

West side of Downtown was one of the most active nightlife areas in LA before covid hit. I've stayed in like 5 different spots in Downtown LA for conferences and contract gigs, it ain't all Skid Row. Once you pass Main Street though

There are a lot of homeless people in NYC but you never see the tent city stuff. I'm not sure if that means that the city is just crueler or if the homeless problem is managed better

The weather is absolutely better in California but it's still weird to me that a state that prides itself in being among the most left leaning in the country has such a bad homeless issue. With their tax revenue I'm sure they could do better with this.
