My folks live on the west side in an affluent area. There were homeless tents starting to line up immediately down the hill from where they lived. Tents were there for a few months before they got “relocated”.

Regardless of political affiliation, everyone can agree that this combo of Newsom and Garcetti has worsened LA. It’s like we are headed back to the early 90s.

These people need jobs, where can they get them? And many jobs are sent overseas for cheap labour.

These are people whose families just a generation or two ago were actively voting against the middle class and committing mass white flight.

Yes I was talking about decent people who could use a job, but they are currently homeless due to the crisis. Many of the homeless people are either addicts or mental people. And Cali gives them "excellent" conditions to do nothing but be homeless.

I volunteered with homeless outreach the last years here in LA

Half these ppl are severely mentally ill(schizophrenia etc). Reagan/Bush I shut down tons of mental hospitals so lot of these ppl been on the streets for decades. At first their families tried to help but it's hard to make ppl take their meds when it makes them feel like zombies so they stop taking them....at that point the fam will at some point kick them out. Once out on the street, self medication thru drugs/alcohol is next on the agenda. Look at Delonte West, textbook case

Theres a quarter who are just alcoholics/junkies and got so bad they couldnt keep a job.

Then you have the working homeless. Folks who actually work but have been priced out of renting bc the rent is INSANE here. Lot of families living in cars, Van's and RVs....I live in Northeast and the park across from my luxury tenement has tons of vans parked out all year.

Theres one schizo dude who thinks hes an Aztec warrior and bangs on buckets at like 5 in the morning. At one point he started carrying a cleaver, cops came out guns drawn, i thought they were gonna blast dude

And there are a lot of black homeless folk. I used to talk to em...most of em were older folk who had been out for a long time. Ppl that remind me of one of my aunties or uncles....it ain't just a white problem

It's not just a liberal/conservative thing. It's an American problem period. Nobody in either party gives a fukk about these ppl so miss with that political WWF shyt yall are on. Cities in red states ship these folk out west to Cali or Vegas just to get rid of em and plus the weather allows folk to be out year round so some make it here themselves

I will say Garcetti is ....he's a anske a political social climber. He doesnt do shyt about the homeless problem at all, more concerned with making flowery Dark Knight speeches to look like a real leader while in the meantime construction is booking in LA but it's all luxury tenemenrs/condos. No affordable apts AT ALL.

So if you're a regular working person making 13/hr and not a 6 fig, 6 cert Coli superhero, you gotta go to fukking Palmdale or risk eventually ending up in your car
