I absolutely disagree with this as a person who has been able to see it up and close from different avenues and programs that are used to assist the homeless.

Temporary homelessness shouldn’t even be in the same category to me because those folks are usually active in trying to better their situation. If they are applying themselves and the programs are available, it’s a good chance they get out of being homeless but the vast majority that I’ve seen, have taken it on as lifestyle for whatever reason.

What you're saying is contrary to every single social service agency, federal and state jobs programs, every homeless shelter director, the entirety of the US federal and state government housing trend tracking, and every single research study since the early 1900s about transient housing.

The vast majority of people who are homeless on any given day in the US are "temporarily homeless."

Only a small number of people are homeless for longer than a few months at a time.

I GRA for a think-tank that tracks housing outcomes for young women in the state and provides both research and legislation for housing - there is no place on the planet where the majority of the homeless are "taking it on as a lifestyle."

It's happening everywhere, yes. But not to the extent that it's happening in Skid Row. The most liberal, if not progressive, and most likely richest state in the U S of A, should not have a town's worth of homeless people and have its population steadily move into city pop territory. Clearly whatever liberal policies they got over there are failing hard.
You realize homeless people from every corner of the United States go to California right? And most of the homeless are transplants.

As I said before, temporary homelessness shouldn’t be grouped with folks who have made places like skid row their permanent dwelling place.

I thought the theme of the thread applied to the thousands living on the street..... and the resulting concern of public safety, etc?

So what does that tell you if that its true.....? Homeless people leave a place that has more affordable housing, and more than likely supporting family, just to go live on Skid Row/Downtown SF/etc? Homeless people can pool resources to travel from Maine to LA, but can't better their current situation in their hometown?

Downtown LA has always been a shyt hole

when people talk about LA, they talking about LA county, there's nothing in the city

I mean compton, inglewood, Long Beach, and all that shyt are their own towns in LA county

Facts, Hollywood was a shythole too but I heard they cleaned it up since they put the Kodak Theater and shyt on the Blvd.

Not true at all..... How many homeless people have you actually talked too...? I was part of a homeless ministry from 2000 to 2011.... no one answered my question I posted a while back... How many people living on the street are addicted to drugs.....?

54 blocks?????? That shyt is not normal.

Unfortunately in California it is. Oakland, SF and Sac are not that much different from LA in that regard. In Oakland it isn't as contiguous on city blocks as it is in LA, but every overpass in downtown is clogged with homeless camps. Some of the neighborhoods have it even worse than downtown Oakland
