@surf seriously though, my theory is that we as black people have to live a life of duality: the black experience and the white experience.
Therefore, we are a lot more perceptive and see the absurdities and observations in the both cultures as well as the parallels between them. Because let’s face it, most comedy is about making observations, it just comes down to how you interpret them.
White comedians that came up with black comedians tend to have better insight because they too get to see more than their white parochial perspective. When you do that, it allows you to make more relatable material that isn’t just through the prism of your own race.
That’s why white women aren’t funny... because how many of them truly get it or want to see life outside of their own entitled perspective?
