He and Bill Burr are probably the only white comedians who can keep up with the black comedians
Robert Schimmel (RIP) was funny as hell too. Dude had me crying laughing on one of his specials that I caught randomly on Showtime back in the day. Anthony Jeselnik be telling some fukked up jokes I be laughing at too.

All the best white comedians came up or worked with black comedians. Bill Burr with Patrice O’Neal, Louis CK and Chris Rock, Dave Attell and Dave Chappelle... I have a theory behind that and why black comedians on average tend to be funnier.

that you’re absolutely not gonna share even though this would probably be the “perfect” opportunity to do so???

@surf seriously though, my theory is that we as black people have to live a life of duality: the black experience and the white experience.

Therefore, we are a lot more perceptive and see the absurdities and observations in the both cultures as well as the parallels between them. Because let’s face it, most comedy is about making observations, it just comes down to how you interpret them.

White comedians that came up with black comedians tend to have better insight because they too get to see more than their white parochial perspective. When you do that, it allows you to make more relatable material that isn’t just through the prism of your own race.

That’s why white women aren’t funny... because how many of them truly get it or want to see life outside of their own entitled perspective?

great theory @ThrobbingHood

I wonder if that could be applied to music and other creative areas :jbhmm:
Both Elton John and George Michael said they didn’t feel like they made it until black radio embraced them.

Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles,Elvis Eminem... some the biggest artists world wide took from black music whilst the latter two came up from the culture. Not a coincidence. :yeshrug:

In fact, most of those British bands from the 60s/70s embraced (or stole) black music with less guilt because they were further removed from the ugly history of it.
