:beli: So the Bears are gonna fire Lovie, but keep Mike Tice? :aicmon:

They haven't made a decision on any of the assistants yet.

The new guy will decide who he wants to keep, probably just our DC and ST coaches.

Not sure if this has been posted:
"The rapid rise this year of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense has not gone unnoticed by the Chicago Bears.

The Bears, who fired head coach Lovie Smith today, have received permission to speak to Bucs offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan about their head coaching vacancy, according to Mark Dominik, Buccaneers general manager.

Sullivan is clearly a man on the rise in NFL coaching ranks. Since 2004 he has gone from receivers coach to quarterbacks coach with the New York Giants to offensive coordinator of the Bucs and now a head coach candidate.

Led by quarterback Josh Freeman, who became the first quarterback in franchise history to throw for 4,000 yards and 27 touchdowns in a season, the Bucs had the NFL's ninth-ranked offense this year.

Despite playing most of the year without Pro Bowl guards Davin Joseph and Carl Nicks, the Bucs produced a franchise-best 5,820 yards and 389 points and got 1,926 yards from scrimmage out of rookie running back Doug Martin.

The Bears have also expressed interest in talking to Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and Falcons special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong about their head coaching vacancy, according to the Chicago Sun Times."

Has to do with money. If the coaches can get other job offers, the bears don't have to pay them. If they fire them outright they do. That's why they haven't announced the fate of the coordinators/coaches.

It sounds like Jay Cutler is the new Alex Smith for y'all....hold on before you start flipping out, but the Niners front office used to defend Alex Smith like it was his 2nd or 3rd year in the league the past two seasons like he was going to dramatically change the way he played.

Sometimes you gotta look at dude's body of work and understand that's it. This is Cutler's 7th year and at his best he is a gunslinger that is his own worst enemy. He won't be on Rodgers, Brady or Peyton's level. He ain't even on Matt Ryan's level. If the GM is claiming offense was the problem with Lovie then he shouldn't be flipping it around to say Cutler just needs more weapons. Martz has had teams that offensively destroyed the NFL. Tice called plays in Minne when they were destroying the league offensively too.

My point is that Lovie might not be the biggest offensive issue y'all had. If the GM can't see that right off the bat then it's gonna be a shytty couple of seasons coming up for y'all.

The offense was shytty before cutler got here.

And the assistants signed extensions this year. If you know there's a chance you're gonna fire the coach, you don't want to lose assistants you wanna keep

lovie will get a job as a defensive coordinator. but 5 outta 6 years of no playoffs ain't gonna cut it.

sorry but besides lovie bringing in inept OC he hasn't done anything warranting a firing. Last year cutler gets hurt and we dont make the playoffs b/c we have a shytty backup QB and no backup RB. This year we go 10-6 with 2.5 games w/o cutler and our backup qb STILL sucked and when we needed Michael Bush he was fukkin injured.
All that being said, keep Marinelli as the DC fire tice and hire a HC who's gonna focus almost completely on developing Cutler.
IDK who that will be though, and im pissed we fired lovie
