One example of this anti intellectualism that I think is salient is with regards to movies.
In the eighties or nineties the main characters of films were often extremely competent.
However in modern day movies, characters who fill the same roles as their counterparts will generally be lay people, perhaps extremely talented but most likely without a formal education.
The example I've seen of this is Jurassic Park where the OG jurrasic park team was all experts and shyt, the protagonist of the new one is specifically not a doctor or scientist but instead some sort of natural savant.
Oceans 11 spiritual successor was Logan Lucky (same director) we went from a bunch of suave crooks taking on vegas to an entire movie demonstrating how red necks can be smart too.
If they shot Enemy of the State today they would cast Kevin Hart and rather than a labor lawyer he'd be a bike delivery guy who got caught up.
He might have some great untapped power that's revealed, but it certainly won't be revealed through education, much more likely through a run in with a "street prophet" or other alternative like that.
I don't even think that the educational establishment is all that or that there aren't plenty of smart people without degrees who shouldn't worry about them.
I think that these movies are intentionally showing how 'you don't really need an education to be a paleontologist" in order to appeal to stay at home cac moms who border on the antivax set.
