word, jim crockett promotions absolutely did not suck, that is just disingenuous....you can't say "man dusty was the man," or "i loved flair and the horseman" and then say JCP sucked; AT ALL

I thought 80's NWA would be awesome based on all those 5 minute Flair clips on YouTube. After watching the PPV's on the network, I no longer think it was awesome. There was *some* cool stuff, and a lot more stuff that's only watchable for the unintentional comedy, if at all.

But if you disagree that JCP was mostly shyt, and acknowledge that it lost a shyt-ton of money, then you're making an even stronger case for not holding WWF's plight in the mid 90's against HBK, because you're saying that the commercial strength and market performance of a wrestling promotion are decoupled from the quality of the talent in the main event, and instead depend to a large degree on other things. I would agree, obviously.

'80s NWA is GOAT.

saying that you watched it 30 years later on the network and cant get into it is more of a personal thing.

thing is the wwf is the most commercially accessible form of wrestling and everything was already set in place by the time HBK and others(not just hbk) got the ball during that time. theres really nobody else to blame for those shortcomings.

JCP was accessible enough to draw 16,000 paying rednecks to the inaugural Starrcade in 83, and 30,000 a year later. Yet by 1989 that number was 6,000. It sure looks less like a "people don't know this product exists" situation and more like a "people aren't checking for this product anymore" situation.

Again, I don't think Ric Flair or Dusty Rhodes or Arn Anderson or Norman the Lunatic or any other wrestler is to blame for that.

We hating n HBK now, what has the world come to , Everybody and they mama done tried to sweet chin music before. Even the name of his finisher is bad ass, Only him having the ability to pull of that attire, and the fact that he had crazy levels of charisma that I feel like get overlooked. I mean he was great at being a goofball and but not to the point of being a walking joke of a wrestler.

Most of the HBK hate is from his a$$hole reputation and messing up the pushes of other wrestlers. No one here can knock his in ring skills because he is one of the best. That's the only compliment I'll give him though. :birdman:

His In ring skills didn't stop him from getting kicked out of the main event for Stone Cold and having to come back as Cripple H's sidekick...so all of that bullshyt don't count. That's all he got..his little matches because he wasn't charismatic or unique enough to lead the company. He was a fit in..a gear.
