Low key, how the hell could you like HBK pre DX era?

Opposite here. I don't see how anyone can deal with HBK from DX and beyond. Dude was unwatchable to me, made me cringe thinking about the 90's Shawn Michaels.

Charisma off the charts, pushing that hair back, heel swagger out of this world, energy unmatched, cocky, too cool for school, dopest dude, greatest worker in the company. Razor, Diesel, all of them up there too though.

JCP was accessible enough to draw 16,000 paying rednecks to the inaugural Starrcade in 83, and 30,000 a year later. Yet by 1989 that number was 6,000. It sure looks less like a "people don't know this product exists" situation and more like a "people aren't checking for this product anymore" situation.

Again, I don't think Ric Flair or Dusty Rhodes or Arn Anderson or Norman the Lunatic or any other wrestler is to blame for that.

sounds more like youre making assumptions about something that you caught wind of 30 years after the fact.

WMX and WMXII are regarded as all time great matches, Bret himself said it was the best match he ever had

that iron man match sucked.

people were walking out on that chit.

So my "assumptions" based on documented attendance figures are invalid, but you can make sketchy ass claims like that based upon....????

nwa '89 is widely considered the greatest year for any promotion in modern wrestling history.

fact of the matter is, they were a horribly mismanaged company by that point. if your business isnt str8, it doesnt matter how good your product is.

smarten up young bul. just because you looked up a few numbers on wiki, it doesnt mean youre a scholar. you aint doing no real research.

ESPECIALLY during his first title run?

Dude was already a great worker...but man, he was a puffy haired guy who claimed to be some great, when razor, sid, bret, taker, were all clearly more entertaining, and he had that GOD AWFUL JOSE LETHARIO running around with him...the absolute worst manager / valet / bum of all time. The heat vampire, jose lethario completely made him look like a loser.

It wasn't until the original DX run that i thought he was interesting, and even then austin and pillman was more entertaining to me....his 2nd run he was godmode, i respect that, but pre DX hbk was nothing special, and i think people are frontin like they were fans since the rockers
Answer= :wrist: :troll:

I mean I guess little kids were drawn to his over the top gear, though even that might be a reach.. I nor my friends/classmates were ever fans of HBK before DX,and I was born in 90.

I could see being a fan of his when he had Sherri wrapped around his finger but I always thought he was a p*ssy...he wasn't cool enough to me, I stanned guys like Razor and Syd because they beat ass,and didn't do no fruity male stripper gyrating and shyt :scust:

How shawn became champion over razor seems odd in hindsight
I think Vince truly bought into the Heartbreak Kid character...probably thought he could be the next big celebrity.

I didn't start watching wrestling till late '98 when I was in the 3rd grade, and at that point, I only knew Shawn Michaels as the weird skinny commissioner who would show up every few months, but after viewing his work years after it happened, my favorite era of his is from 95-pre DX 97. His athleticism was amazing and he had off the charts charisma, despite some of his fruity stripping and lackluster opponents like Sid and Yokozuna. nonetheless, i really found his matches from this era to be his most entertaining.

Like others said I fukked with the Rockers heavy (even though I was a huge Hart Foundation fan) even wanted them to win the belts (not the bs that happened) but when the Rockers split up for some reason I didn't like him. The Barbershop segment was :whew: and had a nikka like :ooh: but I didn't care for the character for some reason. No matter ow great his matches were I just couldn't get behind him...maybe it was because he came off like a gay male stripper or some shyt. Loved to see him wrestle but didn't care for the gimmick he had.

that was one of the worst things about hbk actually.

i remember people used to call it the chick-kick.

his finisher looked like it tickled. it was a wrap when they started having people like vader job out to that chitty-chit.
