Problem is Michaels wasn't drawing money against Austin like those guys were...Tyson fluffed up Mania 14. Michaels was able to leave like that and not matter because he wasn't a wanted top face by the fans like a Razor, Austin, or Taker were.
Hall was never a top anything so I'm not sure what you're basing your comparison of him vs Michaels in that role upon. We did see them in a high profile babyface vs babyface match at Summerslam 95 though. If your analysis is correct, then I would expect the fans to have solidly cheered Razor over Michaels and booed/struggle-popped when HBK grabbed the belt. That didn't happen, so I can only conclude that you are in fact wrong.
As for Taker, well, we saw Shawn and then Undertaker headline successive WrestleManias as the "babyface finally wins the title" angle at WM 12 and 13. If Undertaker was so amazingly popular with the audience and Shawn so overwhelmingly unpopular, why did WM 12 have a buyrate around 44% higher than WM 13.
In fact, Survivor Series 1997 (HBK vs Bret) did more buys than WrestleMania 13 (Shawn not on the card).
Mania does 2x the Survivor Series buyrate at a minimum in any other year.
