Semi Long thread:

I was broke, flabby, unemployed, no skills and qualifications whatsoever and on welfare.

The breaking point was when my extremely successful sister got married and she had to buy me a suit because I lied to her that I had one. It was a last minute suit too so it wasn’t tailored and was baggy. The wedding guests included a lot of her successful friends arriving in their Mercedes etc whilst I arrived in a taxi in my baggy suit. Since I was family I had to walk in the church in my baggy suits, overweight in front of hundreds of guests with my head bowed. I knew I had to drastically change my life :wow:

That was in 2010 and 9yrs later I’m a senior Chemical Engineer at my firm and at my brother’s wedding this year I arrived in my BMW, tailored Armani suit and the best man walking across the church aisle like :takedat:

First 6 months of 2011, I was unemployed and broke :damn:, no gas in the whip, no money for a haircut, I was completely bum status back in my parents crib. My little cousin, who was like 8 at the time, looked at me and was like “why you still at home? You’re grown, you should have a job :hhh:, yo I was dead after that lmao.

I got that call in June though from BNY Mellon and the rest was history :wow:

Why it had to do anything to me? You can't just ask why I don't wanna be here without being presumptuous?

I just physically, mentally, & spiritually moved the fukk on from the societal armpit a$shole known as the northeast United States. Just crossing into this state feels like evolutionary regression to me.
The definition of daily rat race can be found right here smack dab in the northeastern part of the U.S.

id say the lowest point was in 2007 after i finished my MBA

i was paying my dues in the IT world...wasnt really making anything at my job which was a contracting gig so no medical insurance..i had to work long hours from friday to monday in order to earn a decent check..i had to move out of my nice first apt because i couldnt afford to live in it on my own to sharing a room in a house...i remember thinking everything i had in the world was all in 1 bedroom...i had an emotionally draining drama filled relationship that would end shortly...i was glad though i was so hard core in the gym to help keep me together..the following year i ended up catching my first break professionally which financially was enough to better my situation quickly

the next lowest point was in 2012..by mid 2012...i took a significant hit emotionally, physically, financially, and professionally...a lot of things were going wrong for various reasons shyt nearly turned me into a wreck..the following year though things improved ten fold..esp in the physical and financial areas enough for me to make some significant moves that i benefit from to this day

About 10yrs ago I got trapped in payday loans, took out 1, then another, then another, then 2 more, etc. I can remember never looking forward to payday because I added up all the loan fees and payments coming out of my check and it was basically my whole check. This went on for YEARS. Doing side work and 2 jobs just to survive. I had to sit back, assess my situation, and get myself back in financial order. When you look at all the fees from refinancing payday loans, shyt is just :snoop:

I can remember spending my days off looking for new loans to cover the ones I already had. Worst yet, you apply online for this stuff so your ssn is out there literally to any company that wants it. Take out a $300 loan to be charged $390 on payday or roll it over and pay a fee of $60 then add that to the $390 next payday.

Best advice I can give is stay ontop of your finances and never get into payday loans.

Between 2016-2017 I got locked up like 4 times , faced homelessness, had to do shyt I didn’t want to do to survive. A lot of people I had around me were leeches, abusers and users and I let it contribute to my downfall. (If only I listened to my parents )

I really felt like a failure around that time .

But with prayer and determination, you can get yourself out of anything . My life is a complete 180 from 2 years ago and I am happy about that .

My condolences first off to the posters who lost their mothers or even other loved ones. I'm been becoming even more comfortable with death and it's inevitability through my somewhat of a spiritual journey. I encourage everyone to look into buddhism, I did a search on here and realized it's not discussed alot but I've been doing research on alot of it's philosophies are amazing.

But yo like, let's not focus on the negative man. We can share the low point but let's also drop the positive outcomes too !

I don't feel 100% comfortable in sharing mine as yet because they've happened so recently (close friend passed away) but remember that shyt gets better with time

Merry xmas

Man, woman, and child
Year 2000. Toward the end of my third semester of college I lost my football scholarship and was kicked out for selling weed on campus. I was 19. Play I had just lost two of my grandparents in a 2 month span earlier that year. But that shyt didn’t compare to 2015 when I found out my ex wife was cheating, kicked her out and started the divorce process. I was 34.

May-Oct Ice Cream truck

but would bring home between $500-$600 a day tax free off the books

Didn't look at the math too closely, but I figured that $500-$600 a day for 5-6 months woulda had you over 50K.

To the OP, I feel this right now as I look back on 2019: “naw this aint it champ”
