Something must have been brewing behind the scenes because this is the most perplexing trade of all time.
Exactly, Dallas is not being straight with the NBA world right now. I don't wanna hear about conditioning, defensive woes, and shyt; nobody in their right mind trades a 25-year-old Superstar who's just hitting his peak, not to mention surprisingly took you to the finals, for one first-round pick and a 32-year-old who, despite being a great player, has a questionable injury history who overall shortens their championship window, if not pretty much closes it, while lowering the ceiling moving forward.

Something happened.

Luka was probably gonna leave next year to go Lakers anyway.

Mavericks probably feel they can be competitive the next two years with Kyrie + AD and supporting cast.

Look, at the end of the day, Luka is 25 but his conditioning seems to be getting worse, dude looks like shyt out there tbh

He isn’t efficient like Joker and Giannis and plays zero defense. His numbers are inflated, the same way Hardens were.

It's not lazy talk when it essentially boils down to that.

Luka has had perceived conditioning issues for years now, that hasn't stopped him becoming one of the best players of the modern era. The new ownership don't know Luka better than anyone else, and that's largely why they ended up trading him, because I imagine that they don't completely know the full extent of the value he has to the franchise (or they do and simply don't care because they wanna save money).

Luka's issues are down to his body being overworked because the muh'fukka doesn't have an offseason. He plays hoops all year round. His injuries are not some degenerative shyt like Kawhi's.

He's only 25.

If they truly believed he can't replicate what he's been doing going forward, they deserve all the shyt that's about to come their way.

Luka’s body being overworked is true and I’m not fighting that point ..but Luka has been heavy as hell, overworked and now is having reoccurring heel/calf injuries on the same leg . That’s a red flag.We know what that can lead too ..Don’t want to put that on him because I know from experience how brutal it is ..But it’s a distinct possibility and may be a reason why they never gave Luka a chance to come back to see what he can do…If it wasn’t an issue at all they could’ve let the string roll out until summer instead of taking the short they did .

or like you said they could just be cheap

I just don’t believe we have the full picture. Think we both agree that the statement Nico put out was full of shyt
