Dallas making the playoffs this year off the screnfh of Luka

Ja Morant also about to make the playoffs as a rookie. This is a down year in the NBA. When talent is low around the league then lots of bad teams can make the playoffs.

Luka simply lacks the skill set to be a difference maker in the playoffs. He's a stats guy (like Kevin Love). He's not a guy who can actually play basketball when the game slows down and we get into half-court basketball against a set defense. The guys who succeed in those situations are guys with elite one on one skills (like Kawhi, Tatum, Harden, etc.) or guys with overwhelming athleticism (like LeBron, Westbrook, Zion, etc.). Luka doesn't have either one those abilities. He's a pick n roll stat padder. Only people who don't understand basketball and just look at stats actually think he's good. If you understand basketball you know he's a fraud who will be exposed in the playoffs over his career.

Its impossible for Luka to be the best player on a championship team. IMPOSSIBLE.

Hall of Shame banner makes sense.

Just know white boy I was the only one on here in 2013 and 2014 saying Kevin Love was trash and not as good as his stats suggested when everyone else was saying he was a top 5-10 player in the league. I was one of the few to say the Warriors would be crazy to trade Klay Thompson for him. Thank goodness Jerry West stopped that. And when the trade to Cleveland happened I said he would be more of a detriment to that team than an asset. As we saw in the 2016 NBA Finals, the Cavs typically performed much better when Kevin Love was off the floor than on it. Also his tenure in Cleveland exposed him as a guy who was more of a stats player than an actual superstar. At some point ya'll need to realize that stats don't tell the story for some players.

In about 3 years when Luka has repeated playoff failures I have a feeling you'll be on here pretending you knew he was never that good to begin with. Just like so many people do now with Kevin Love eventhough in 2013 and 2014 when I was calling him trash, everyone else was saying he was a top 5 player in the league.

Well going by your logic if he's Kevin Love and the west is weak this year then Luka won't make it anymore

I’ve always said and believed any great white athlete is usually just some years of physicality and an injury away from being knocked back down to mediocrity. So the question I’m asking is after ten years will Luka be looking like a legendary all-time great player? I’d say probably not but he could prove me wrong.

Going with Zion on this one.

Talent around the league isn't getting better. So he might keep making the playoffs. Lots of mediocre talent make the playoffs. However, he will never advance far. He will never be a difference maker in the deep rounds of the playoffs because he lacks the skill set or athleticism to be that sort of difference maker.

Stop being infatuated by stats and start learning the game. The guys who succeed come playoff time have elite half court offensive games. They can get their shot against a set defense. They either do it with skill (like Kawhi) or brute physical force (like LeBron). But you need one of those two abilities. Luka doesn't have that which is why he'll fail. Just like Steve Nash used to fail back in the day despite having lots of success in the regular season.

The playoffs are what tell us who can play and who can't.

Zion is a terrible defender..

He's a defensive liavility..
It's too early for me to say that. He's only played 16 games and is not in the best shape. Zion has the potential to be a monstrous defender but so far his I.Q. and effort hasn't been good on defense. He makes highlight defensive plays off his athleticism it doesn't help that the Pels play up tempo and Gentry doesn't care about defense.

Steve Nash had great playoff series his production usually increased in the playoffs too.

A lot of people feel the Suns could have made the Finals that year they had the suspensions.

Defense.

Zion as a rookie already has a 105.3 defensive rating.
Zion has a 113 defensive rating. Not that it means much since it's a team and pace dependent stat. But he hasn't been good defensively most of his impact has some from his explosive athleticism, he's not in the best shape out there and doesn't fully understand NBA defense.

Zion plays defense and doesn't have to dominate the ball to be extremely effective. This shouldn't be close. Luka is very good and a phenom himself but there's levels.
someone who has not watched Zion play

Edit: I will add that he has good potential there if he does learn to defend consistently

This is how you know this forum is trash
Nikkas basing it off college where he was a monstrous defender and a few highlight blocks on SportsCenter

Jokic and Carmelo schooled him with jabs and pump fakes. He ain’t have the foot speed to stay in front of Bron. He sags off shooters and don’t understand help defense.

He’s out of shape and needs to work on his I.Q./discipline and learn NBA defenses. Doesn’t have the greatest wingspan either.
